Is it necessary to the structural integrity of the boat? (ie...will worn-off gelcoat allow some kind of damage to the fiberglass hull?
the reason I ask is I've seen some cheap bass boats FS/FT lately and have thought about snagging one if the right deal comes along. most are older but supposedly run fine. but many say the gelcoat is worn or gone.
Now, if I found one that truly was mechanically sound and the only problem was worn/missing gelcoat that made it look dull, but posed no actual threat other than looking less-than-great, well I'd be alright with that.
