The dang Squase bore beattle have shown up . I vowed not to let them whip me this year , and was not expecting them this early . Anyway they are in 4 of my 12 squash hills.
I treated with Liquid 7 ,and did the same last year ,to no avail.
Is there anything I can do to save my squash?
I thought about putting more dirt on top of the damaged stalks , hoping that they might grow more roots past the damaged section's
Any suggestions?

Pick as much as you can now.

And plant more, its not too late to get some production out of seedlings, they grow fast in this heat.

I hate them with a passion! I've lost all my squash and zucchini the last 3 years to them. Ive now moved my garden a third time to the opposite side of my 4 acre yard. I've sprayed with liquid sevin once so far. I hope they don't get me this year!

When I went home for Lunch , I was looking at one of the Damaged squash stalks , I took my pocket knife and split open the stalk a little farther up from the last place that I could see damage , and found the little sumbeach. They look like a small gub . I mashed him, so I know he wont do any more damage!

I was out in the garden this past weekend, and saw those moths buzzing around. They're quick but I got 2 of them, thinking I had done something. Now I went out this morning & starting to see signs of a borer on one of my zucchinis. I use Neem & Sevin too, especially around the base/stalk of the plant, seems to have done very little good. Damn things are unbelievable. They sell a trap online for them, can't imagine that would work either, but that one photo shows a ton & says it caught 200 in a season?: http://www.hollandsgiants.com/squashVineBorerTraps.html

Them suckers got me last year. This year I bought 4 big pots and filled them
Up with black kow. Then planted
My squash in them. I got little squash growing everywhere. And zero signs of the bugs!

Y'all need to plant hybrid varieties of squash, not the run of the mill stuff from the co-op. Squash bugs are like flys on shucks when it comes to regular ole crookneck and straightneck. And standard zucchini too. They won't get on the hybrid stuff nearly as fast, they much prefer the "classics" that they've eaten for years.

Also, squash vine borers are a totally different bug from a "squash bug".
