I have about 1.5 acres cut up and ready to sew/plant behind my house about 500 yards in clear view. Deer regularly cross in this reclaimed field currently. What would y'all plant for summer viewing. I know 1.5acres of beans would last about 1 week maybe with the density. I'd like to have something to look at them at dusk(or anytime for that matter) with a good pair of binocs or spotting scope. We have about another 1.5 acres of corn in the ground there already to the north of the field but it's covered from view and I couldn't see them in the corn anyway once it was ready.

Plant a moultrie corn feeder. If the deer density is high this will work the best for viewing deer.

Just put up a barbed wire fence around the field. No planting required. Those suckers are just like kids.If they think it's off limits then they want to get into it no matter what.

You'll be lucky if you get to watch them very much during the summer months no matter what you plant. They tend to move mostly at night due to the heat and food is abundant so they usually don't concentrate in one little area in high numbers like they would in late Jan or Feb. Later in the summer if thing turn hot and dry and the native forage goes belly up then you will see them start concentrating in larger numbers on smaller areas. Regardless of what you choose this summer, I'd mix in some durana clover this fall for future summer plots.

I planted a few acres in Alfalfa (hoping to bale some hay from it), but so far the deer are keeping it eaten down so low that I am not sure if I will get to any hay off it or not.
