Ive been in clubs with everybody having 4 wheelers and 4 wheelers scare the crap out of the deer. Shut the deer down. Almost comical. BBB are ok, mine is old low battery life ect.
I had a 4cyl Toyota 4x4 reg cab that was quiet and strong. Go anywhere.
If your roads are good, which would you prefer?
New BBB are like 13K. Kinda crazy. I think too many people buy into these hunting shows imho.
What do yall think?

That's weird, I saw 16 deer in an hour and a half on our place Friday afternoon riding my 4 wheeler with the stereo on and drove right by 4 within 15 foot and they watched me drive by...

What "Scares the crap out of deer" is a direct reflection of pressure on the land you hunt... So it sounds like your land is pressured pretty dang hard....

Truck ...by far I can buy a hunting truck far cheaper than a side by side or 4 wheeler, and the trucks comes with heat. I like my jeep wrangler. But to each his own . For I have owned atvs and golf carts

Human intrusion effects deer and their movements. In area's where deer hear atv's all the time, their not as effected. I don't ride atv's all over our club. I ride to within about 200-300 yards of my stand and walk the rest of the way to my stand. I'm not so sure i wouldn't be better off driving to within 20 yards of my stand and throwing a tarp over the atv. Less human scent left on the ground. Any change and influx of sounds and scent will effect deer in different area's in different ways, you just need to pick your poison. I'm in a small club, only a few members. We only use atv's to do work or as transportation during the season, we don't joy ride all summer long. Deer get accustom to their surroundings, and atv's and car's passing become normal to deer in urban area's, they just stand and watch you drive by. On my mountain property where they never hear those sounds, sends them running for the hills.

Walk if you can. And use whatever you want to haul out that big guy.

I have had a '86 Toyota, Polaris Ranger and multiple 4 wheelers and have to say I rather drive my personal vehicle to a good parking area and walk the rest of the way. I traded my Ranger for a wheeler last year due to the fact it is easier to get into tight spaces and down in to the woods with versus a truck or buggy. I just leave it on the trailer and if I happen to get one down then I will unload and go grab it. Other than for that or preseason scouting it never leaves the trailer.

I've got a little jeep Cherokee 4x4 with ac and heat it will go anywhere, ill drive it from the house to the camp and keep all my hunting stuff in it. I dont like dragging a trailer 2 hrs and getting to the land and have to untie and unload a four wheeler or golf cart. Now I've got alot of hunting land around the house and its nice to hope on the golf cart and slip around it.

I park my truck about a 1/2 mile to a mile from my stand and walk in. During early bow season when it's still hot, I'll drive my 4wheeler to within a few hundred yards of my stands. To me, it's better to make alittle noise away from your stand verses sweating and stinking in your stand.

deer are more affected by scent than noise imo so it really doesn't matter what you drive. In texas the deer are eating the corn before the feed truck is out of sight. On a club I use to manage in Camden, AL, in the offseason the deer would routinely be at the feeders within 10 minutes after supplying new feed so when the hunting season started the hunters would drive to the feeder and sometimes fill it with rocks then go get in there stand and harvest some really nice deer. As long as theres not a ton of pressure on them I think they could care less about vehicle sounds

We have gravel roads but I prefer to walk. You never know what you may see going and coming. We use a tractor with a front end loader to get them out.

It depends on the roads. I would much rather drive my truck within walking distance and eliminate the cost of a ________?
But during the wet part of the year anything larger than a UTV, 4whlr or golf cart will tear up the roads so bad that we would be needing a dozier and gravel to make repairs each year.
I have seen deer in and on everything we use, human pressure is the issue at our place as already mentioned not the vehicle used.

Walk where/when you can. Back in 1996 I was riding a Honda Big Red down a dirt road with a 7mag across my lap. BIG, BIG buck jumped up when I was less than 15 yards from him. I stood up on the foot pegs trying to find him in the scope while mashing down on the foot brake. He was gone in three hops down into a ravine before I ever got him in the scope. Had I been walking that buck would be on my wall. Never saw that buck again...

Chances are, you would have walked right past that buck and never knew it. People would be surprised at how many mature bucks they walk by while hunting. Stopping, will make one's hair crawl, they can't stand it. They get old by being smart. I walked within 10 yards of an 8pt while rabbit hunting with 5 beagles. I stopped, something felt funny, turned around and he had his head run up, stairring me down. I changed shells and shot him in the face, at about 20 yards. Their perfectly content with letting you walk right on by. If you walk clearcuts, and you don't stop periodically and just stand there being quiet, your missing out. As long as they can hear, or see you, they'll lay there. When you all of a sudden stop and they don't know where you are, well, they come unhinged.

This has already been said numerous times here, but I will say it again: a truck is gonna tear everything to hell in the winter. A buggy will not do near as much damage.

As far as them scaring deer...I ain't getting into tht
