Here's the problem with FedEx Ground. I say ground because FedEx Express is very, very good.
FedEx Ground delivery guys are independent contractors. They're not employed by FedEx. They buy their own truck, pay for their own fuel. As such, they're mindful of the extra cost of time and fuel it takes to deliver to each person, especially if you're off the beaten path like I am. Generally, if yours is the only delivery out your way, he'll skip you that day and deliver the next day when he can have more packages in your area to make it more cost friendly for him.
It sucks, but that's the way it is.
It's also the reason I'll choose UPS every time if I have a choice. UPS drivers are employed by UPS, and it's very rare that you'll not get your package when you're supposed to. x10 They are contractors and don't care like FedEx employees. i disagree, i had a p&d contract with fedex that i sold back in 04. The reason that i sold it was because fedex provided absolutely no support. My route averaged close to 100 stops/day and over 250 miles and most everyday i made it clear that the load was more than my guy could do, but the only response i got from them is "well its your contract, youll figure out how to get it done". So i got tired of hearing complaints from customers and sold the headache to someone else. But i still know several of those guys and all are hardworking and want to provide the best service but fedex is working against them.

Luckily, I've never had an issue with FedEx or UPS, for that matter. The only difference I've notice between them and UPS is that FedEx delivers earlier in the day.

PCP, wasn't trying to pour salt into your wound. I just think this is the world we live in now. Mostly, people don't try, are stupid, lie, and just don't care. The hard workers that try get all the work dumped on them while the slackers make the same $$. Eventually, the hard workers get broke down and give up. I personally have found it where I can no longer function with people. Just me, my parents, my wife, and my dog...that's all I can tolerate.

How could they not invest $100 in a GPS? Because it's like I said...they already know where your house is. "We can't find your house" is simply an excuse to not deliver "today". It's just not economically feasible for them, being owners of their own business, to go out of their way to deliver to you today, when they can deliver to you and three others out your way tomorrow. It's not right, but that's how it is. My father-in-law is retired from FedEx at their Memphis hub. Simple economics on the part of the independent contractor. Still doesn't explain why they can't get the package to the right house...at some point. As someone else mentioned, we've become closer to our neighbors due to FedEx. Delivering it to within 1/2 mile or so of intended address is good enough for them. Worst delivery we've had yet though is when they left a laptop computer my wife had bought leaned up against the mailbox post adjacent to the state hwy.

I simply said that economics play into it at some point, and it's to their advantage monetarily sometimes to wait until tomorrow when they have more packages in a more remote area.

You pull up to a dirt road or driveway and there is 12 mailboxes at the start of that drive... Once they drive down that 2-3 mile drive and come up on houses with no numbers on the house....it's kinda hard to know which is which...but neither should leave it up against a mailbox....that's for dang sure.....

Funny this came up...I was supposed to have a large package delivered by Fed Ex. last Sat. I kept an eye on the tracking, as soon as it arrived in Birmingham, it was damaged and delayed, but said delivery would still be attempted.... It never showed. I finally talked to an American in customer service on the phone who said delivery was refused. I told her was NOT refused, And not only that, A delivery Attempt was not even made. I waited around the house ALL DAMN DAY Saturday so I did not miss the delivery. Then she started crawfishing saying the driver might have refused delivery due to the amount of damage. Needless to say I was and am still kinda aggravated with Fed Ex.

Thanks for the info on them; that does explain some of their issues. However, a guy carried a battery rack of mine around in his truck for a week back in the summer, always claiming he couldn't find my house. He finally called me on his phone and I gave him directions. He was already within a mile. When he got there, he was actually using a paper map about 10 years old to try to locate my house. I asked him why he didn't use a gps and he said the co didn't give him one. I asked why he didn't go to Wal-Mart and buy one and make his job so much easier, and he just shrugged his shoulders. I got the feeling he just wasn't all that bright. He smelled bad too. No word at all from them today. I don't think I'm gonna get my chufas. I hope the nwtf will give me my money back.

I'm sure it is hard in some places like you describe. But my house is not hard to find at all. I'm a mile off 231, and there is a big green sign with my road's name on it, and only 4 houses on my road. And I've got a sign on the main road with my house number and an arrow.
Its either total incompetence on the part of the driver, or its like Hunterbuck says and the driver just doesn't wanta fool with it.

Fed Ex takes my small packages to the local post office and large packages they deliver to the house. UPS delivers big items to my house and small packages to my wife's work instead of driving out hear to the house. Google Maps, Google Earth and Yahoo maps all have my address as 1.2 miles down the road
It takes a long time to grow an old friend.

This story just keeps getting better. I got an email early this morning from FedEx - Good News! Your package will be delivered today!
Got an email from them a few minutes ago - Your package has been delivered!
Unfortunately, it wasn't delivered to my house. So I called and this time get what sounds like an American woman. Gave her the tracking number, and she says it was "delivered" back to the sender. I told her that wasn't a delivery, that was a return. She insisted that was a form of delivery and wouldn't even agree that the email was wrong. She said someone at the nwtf signed for it this morning, so the email from early this morning was nonsense. Oh, she also said the package had been damaged and that's the reason it was returned.
What a company!

Sounds like you'd be better off going down to the local seed store and buying seed.

I bought a Northface Jacket one time that was suppose to be delivered and it was about a mile from my house on the porch of some apts... I was LIVID. I told them what I thought. Thankfully I drove around and found it. It was not on my road it was about 4 roads over.
I love the rut. The woods are like a bunch of roided up meatheads fighting over a girl.

I finally got somebody in shipping at the nwtf and he said the bag had been completely destroyed. I guess the driver decided to get even with me for complaining, so he destroyed the seed bag. The nwtf ships it in a heavy container; it almost had to be done on purpose.
