Good job yak, I'll post the link here and get one of y'all to post it. For some reason when I copy and paste the image code, it is just posting the link.

Preciate it Bgarret! Anybody been having any luck? I got close this morning on the second gobbling bird I've heard this year. He only gobbled 3x, but got close enough I think I heard him drumming. Had a dang honeysuckle patch between us though.

I'll be getting after them all weekend, possibly monday morning, then Tuesday I'm gonna head down to georgia and try to get in 4 to 5 days of hunting. Got a small piece of private land, that should be good. Had a bunch of birds on camera down there. I've also got some really jam up public land honey holes down that way. Lord willing I'll get another bird or two down in the next week.

I have totally struck out so far. My place has been quite for two weeks, I am seeing hens but only heard 3 birds on roost in 5 trips. nothing on the ground.

You hunting in Cherokee county? The best is yet to come up that way. If I can manage a couple more birds, I'll come up there and take you on the forest. I'll have to blindfold you though lol

Well, I screwed the pooch this morning fellas. Finally had a wma bird respond at 11. Got setup on him and he gobbled again low, moved down towards him. Turned out to be two different birds and they then got above me and didn't want to come down. Misjudged the distance on that slope and really regretting carrying a dang 20gauge now. Going back in there in the morning.

Son went this morning and missed twice with his bow. The bird did not spook but he did just walk off. So I decided to see if I couldn't kill him. I guess he was henned up because he wouldn't gobble at anything I threw at him but he did shock gobble at some geese that flew over honking. I'll give him a try later on in the week.

Son went back this afternoon and shot the bird he missed this morning and could not find the bird. Blood all over the decoy. Heck all he did was loose my bird. So be it he has had 2 hunts he'll remember for a lifetime.

Those two hunts are exactly why turkey's were meant to be killed with a shotgun lol

shoulda killed them bastards, I'm beyond frustrated. I don't know what else I can do. I'm busy as hell and have gone every possible chance I have. I've heard a gobble on 4 of 12 mornings. On 3 of those days it was less than 8 gobbles on the limb. I've called in 2 of the 3 that I've sat down on. I was real excited for this trip to georgia, but after 2 days of non stop hunting, I have heard 1 gobble in the distance. I swear, one of these days I'm gonna get some good private land. Hunting these nongobbling public land bastards is getting to the point where it isn't fun anymore.

add a notch for my first butt whooping of the season. The other one I sat down on a few weeks ago didn't gobble again after I sat down on him, so I never really got in the game.

This morning I took a buddy who is always good luck in the turkey woods. I think I've taken him 6 or 7 times and we have 4 dead birds and all the others were close calls to show for it. He has never killed a bird without me. Well, we got back in the public land early, and sat on a high ridge in a spot I used to hear 6 or more almost every morning. Notta. Not one gobble. About 45 minutes after daylight I'm getting ticked off. I decided to start walking the property line and cutting. All the sudden a hen started back at me. I moved in close, and started getting her fired up. Then he gobbled. After that he gobbled about 30x over the next hour. He would come towards us, then those hens would draw him back to them. Cat and mouse. He was down in a bottom and we were on top of the ridge about 40yds from the edge. I told my buddy to ease up to the edge of the ridge and I'd draw him back to us. It sounded like he was getting about halfway up the ridge every time before turning around. Well, he took about 10 steps and the birds busted out of there. They had finally worked their way up to us and were in a depression to our left headed our way. Made a rookie mistake and paid for it. Should have decided early on to either be aggressive when he was gobbling good, or play it patient. Waited too long to decide. I'm going back after him in the morning. i think I would have killed that bird by myself, so we will see if he will make some noise in the am.
