Marshall scheduled to meet with Battle tomorrow in Wichita, most likely will be hired as Bama's new basketball coach. Smart most likely to Texas.

I still think we should've gone after VCU's Shaka Smart. I like him.

Heck I think I'd rather see the Tide sign Rick Barnes from Texas. He was at Texas many years with some pretty good success.

Bill Battle spent a total of 8 hours in Witchita today. He just left headed back for Birmingham at 6:30 without Gregg Marshall. People are saying to not read into it much. An announcement should be made tomorrow at some point for whether Marshall will leave or stay.

Texas seems to be out of the discussion and are in talks with VCU's coach Shaka Smart. Also Tennessee is going to get Rick Barnes as their Head Coach. So it seems it's only between Witchita St. And Bama right now for Marshall.

Family didn't want to move from their friends, WSU came up with $3.3 million for 7 years.

Well, good for Marshall. Gets a nice raise and doesn't have to uproot his family. That's important.

Bama will find someone good. Only a matter of time.

Reports that Bama offered him $4.2-4.9 million over 6 years. That's crazy money to turn down

You're looking at old info. It's over. He's staying at WSU.

The streak you are on is nothing short of supernatural. I'm thinking the university is going to be sending you a cease and desist letter, soon. smile

Marshall did agree verbally to Battle to come, but it was a family decision. Earlier last night the plan was for the family to visit Tuscaloosa on Friday, but things changed. I think the 9th grade daughter was against leaving her friends the most and Marshall knows he can wait a couple of years till she is out of high school to take another job. Looks like Miller or Smart will be the next choice.

Smart is not in the picture. He should be named as head coach at Texas today or tomorrow.

You have a heck of an imagination or your "sources" are playing a mixture of groundhog and April fools day on you. The last time you were right about anything to do with Alabama or Auburn they were wearing leather helmets. grin

Marshall entertained the offer because it was a really large $ offer from a nationally known school. Entertained it enough that it was likely for him to come visit Tuscaloosa tomorrow. But the reports of him actually accepting the job verbally...not so sure that is correct information. Even if so, he changed his mind.

In the end, he stayed where he will be the big man on campus, adding to a program that he has taken to national prominence, kept family stability, and procured a really nice raise.

Finebaum is saying he played Alabama and acted overly interested to get a fat raise as WSU. Perhaps.

So what if he did? I say well played on his part. Finebaum's feelings are just hurt like the rest of the Bammers.

Doesn't bother me any. Just reporting what talk radio is saying.
