I can't tell you anything that hasn't already been said.
I have been where you are. Its a tough place to be, but God is a great help in a time of need.
When my wife and I first got married, we lived right behind my grandparents. I mean literally jump off our porch onto theirs. My oldest son was very close to his great Papaw ( my Papaw) when he passed.
I'll never forget my son blowing his Papaw a kiss right before he died. He knew what had happened. I just explained to him the situation and even at age 3, he understood.
Do the best you can and God will help give you the words. Prayers for you and your family.

Theres no easy way of doing it.I had to tell my wife her mother (58) died.It was very unexpected and it floored me when i got the call.My daughter was 7 at the time and loved her nana to the moon and back.Wife took it as expected (very very tough) but our daughter actually surprised me at how strong she was about it and it was mainly because she seen her mama hurting so bad.Had to relive the whole situation over 6 months later when we got a call the day before my wifes Bday that her dad was in a bad motorcycle accident in Panama City and they didnt know if he was gonna make it.We were actually coming back from goin out to eat for my wifes Bday when they called so the kiddos were with us and knew what was going on but didnt really know just how bad he really was.We dropped the kids off at my dads and hauled butt to Panama City.We got the call an hour away that he had passed. We had to stay in Panama City 3 days away from the kids taking care of everything which was the hardest thing I've ever had to deal with because he was one if my best friends.Daughter kept calling the whole time we were there wanting to know how Paw paw was.Couldnt tell her over the phone with us 4 hours away so we had to just keep telling her everything is ok..I think she already knew though. Its been almost 3 years since all this happened and the wife and daughter still have bad days which is to be expected but the kiddos take things like this alot better then you think.Good luck and prayers sent for comfort. Kids do have a way of putting it into perspective. Our oldest said she chose not to be sad because it was God's will. I still tear up now even when typing this. That is faith. Faith of a child is amazing.

sounds to me like youre doing everything you should be doing about as perfectly as can be done. I know it doesnt make it any easier. just have to stick it out with them consistently and let time heal. only thing I would add to what you are doing is make sure you have someone there for YOU to talk to through the rough spots. keep praying and know all our prayers are with you.
Go with the flow and you will end up down the drain!
