What do you know about Luverne's baseball team other than being ranked #1 in 2a? I'm hearing they are suppose to be the real deal but haven't seen them play.

They wouldn't let Skinny play because he kept digging up the infield...next

There's a mound there, what else what I do with it?
Seriously, they got a good team again this year and they take their ball very seriously.

For some unexplainable reason, this small town takes its baseball extremely seriously. We have try-outs for 5 year olds, my 5 yr old didnt make the cut. I guess he's going to have to go into team ownership.

Is this a serious post? if so, that's insane. Heck, increase the # of teams. If they are that serious about it, there must be money for it(or could be raised) and enough willing coaches. Borrow a field, whatever it takes. Let the kids play. Some of those that get turned away at an early age could still be good later.

Or did this go over My head and I missed the joke completely?

They really do have try-outs for 5 year olds here.
My son turned 5 about 2 days before sign-up. We were planning on T-ball, but they insisted because he was 5 that he try-out for baseball. It was a total failure for him so we will try again next year. Seems the program here is for them to get started at T-ball at 3-4, then separate the girls from boys at 5 for try-out team play.

This is my 2nd son. My first son got to play T-ball at 5, but that was 7 years ago, so some changes have been made since then.

So do they have a league available (baseball or t-ball) for the 5-6 yo's that didn't make the cut?

Nope. Its either one way or the other. But it's ok. The one's that don't make the cut end up doing something important with their lives so it all works out.

They can do that later. They need to be kids at that age. Although, I do remember My son being in a league a little bit like that, but He was 11 yo. Pulled him the next year. He later told Me He was glad I did. He is a fine outstanding young man now. If it isn't focused on fun and building character, they don't need it.
