I've got an old mobile home sight on my place that ive allowed to grow up. I got out there yesterday & started cleaning it up again. There is 8 mobile home anchors on it, thats the reason I don't just bush hog it. Anybody know of a good way to remove these anchors? I have a 55 hp 4x4 tractor with front end loader, will that do the job? Thx in advance, Robinhedd

I tried last year to pull up an anchor that the power company used to secure tension on a Power pole. I had the 38 HP John Deere with me and I could not budge it. I forgot about trying to get it up when I had my big Tractor there bailing hay, but doubt it would have got it up either.
I am going to take a torch and burn it off below the ground level. I don't know about mobile home anchors, but with time they are almost impossible to remove. Good luck.

Trox may know how to remove them but I think Teach's torching idea may be the easiest.

If no torch access dig out around it on one side and use a 4" grinder with cut off disc on it.

Get you a 4' long piece of 2" x 4" and use it to unscrew them. You can get plenty of leverage and they come up easily. I use them to anchor down shooting houses and I have put several in the ground and taken them up later.
Put 1 end in the u-channel of the anchor and you get on the other end. "Lefty loosey" circles until you have it out.
Simple.

Like Cuz suggested, I removed a couple out of the ground a few months ago that had been there for a few years. I used a bar about 4'-5' long and unscrewed them. They came right up.

What cuz-pat said, I've used a piece of rebar. If my light-weight butt can turn them then you can too.

I have heard that the utility pole anchors are twice as long as the mobile home anchors. But I don't know that for sure. Power and telephone anchors are sized based on the load they will back up. Most are 5/8" x 5 foot rods and the old anchors (15 years old and older) were 'bust anchors'. Some are 6 foot or even longer. You WILL NOT pull one out of the ground. They are at least 16"x16" square plate on the end of the rod. Bust anchor rods can easily be driven down below ground level with a sledge hammer. Drive them straight on the angle that they are already headed. You won't drive down or pull a screw anchor out unless it's real shallow and on rock or soupy soil. They can be unscrewed with a long crow bar/rock bar.

I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

I turned 7 anchors out of the ground on one side, that means there is 7 more on the other side. They were no trouble to turn out once I got them moving. I used a 1/2" piece of rebar about 16" long to turn them out. There is also a steel plate, serrated on one side about a foot long that holds the anchors in the ground. I'll post pics as soon as I can.

I've unscrewed them before. Think I used a metal pipe or 2x4.

If you have or have access to an engine lift it will pull them right out. Ive pulled 4x6's in concrete 2' deep with mine. It pops them out very easily and slowly without the danger of snatching with a tractor or truck too. Definitely my preferred method, Ive done fence posts both chain link and "t" posts also.

You have a torch? If you ain't gonna unscrew them dig down around them and cut them off as far below ground as you can.

Scew in anchors pretty much are a thing of the past except on corners. Most mobile homes are anchored using system with a plate under a pier with Steele arms connected to frame. This uses the weight of the home against each side. Yep..Pan anchors on opposite corners and screw downs on the 4 corners.Crazy thing is screw downs arent required on a doublewide on a secondary move.
