Hypothetically, let's say I were to lose the key to my boss' bad boy. I am pretty sure it's a 2008ish model. I am trying to buy one without him knowing and get it back down to camp. Just trying to keep the hell he will give me about losing something to minimum. Besides calling bad boy, anyone have any ideas?

Most lock smiths can probably make you a key.

I'd be polishing up that resume if I were you....

Does he hypothetically know you took his buggy?

Oh yeah. He lets me take the buggy all the time. Sad part is I lost the key between the shed we keep the buggy in and the camp house. Which can't be more than 50 yards. But I have tore up the yard, the shed, the camp house, every piece of clothing I have looking for that stupid key and can't find it anywhere.

I would think the serial number off the buggy, and taking it to a Polaris dealer would work.

Or just man up and tell your boss.

As asked were you using it with permission, hypothetically?

Yes I had permission. I am not that big of an outlaw. He really wouldn't even be upset that I lost the key. He's about as low key guy as they come. I am just trying to avoid the jokes he will pull now that I have finally lost something because I always give him a hard time about losing things.

Why would he tell the boss? He's going to have to get a new key either way. No way I'd tell if I didn't have to. New key = no harm done.

If you listen to Elkhunter and his experiences with BBB...the guy may just give you a promotion. rofl

Serious question........do you know anyone with a metal detector you could borrow to look for it?

Not that I can think of buddy. I will give Bad Boy a call and see how much they are going to hit me for. Was really just wanting to see if anyone out there had this happen to them before. I figured Elkhunter may have thrown his key in the woods a few times with his BBB experiences and knew how to replace one that was lost.

Check your pockets and look in your hand.

Kind of like hunting your sunglasses when they were on your head the whole time.

Yup...sounds like the fastest, easiest way to a promotion.

Boss may not see it that way.

What if after you replace the key, the boss finds out you lost it and didn't tell him? Will he feel as if you were doing something behind his back and trying to hide something?

I feel your better off telling him, and accepting the jokes, or consequences, rather than possibly losing his trust in you.

David B.

you should be able to get a new cylinder with a set of keys from anyone near you who deals with golf cart parts. be about 15 bucks. it don't have anything to do with any serial numbers.
