Folks, be careful in everything you do while hunting.

I've learned that a man died last week in Evergreen while cleaning a deer. It appears that he was deboning a ham, and when he cut a large piece of meat away, it slipped out of his hands. While the meat was falling, he grabbed for it, and accidentally stabbed himself in the upper thigh, severing his femoral artery. Bled out in a matter of minutes.

Please be careful, in everything you do.

Wife and family are from Evergreen, I can't find anything about it on line. seems like it would be print worthy?

It happened..trust me. Man wasn't from Evergreen. Source is absolutely impeccable on this. Happened on the 20th. He was buried last Saturday.

I have a buddy that did the same thing, but he was cutting fishing line and dropped his rod. Fortunately he missed the artery by 1/4" according to the ER doc.

I was skinning a buck in 92. While cutting the breast downward the knife slipped and went into my leg barely nicking my femoral artery. I wrapped my bandana around it to slow the bleeding down. Finally my wife made me go to the doctors. The doc said a millimeter more I would have.been a goner.

It was in this week's local paper...article said he was discovered by other members of his hunting club when they came in from hunting that evening...has to be a hard thing for everyone involved

Yes, that is correct...they discovered him within 5 minutes of his death.
