If you train with non venomous, you might consider shock collar. Thats a great idea, pop him when he gets hit I'd pop him the first time he ever even smells one. Don't let him see you put it there and ya'll go for a walk and happen upon it. I would then give him a real good jolt.

My aunt has a springer, not a champion breed dog, but full blooded. Hyper sumbeech for sure, very hyper. Dont listen to nothing
