What kind is this? Looked em up. Several looked similar. Was small compared to a redtail. He was setting on the fence by a tree with berries on it getting the little birds that came to eat.

I have a large Purple Martin colony here at the house. Those things are rough on the Martins when the young start fledging.

That is a Coopers. If you get a close look they have eyes like Rubies.I had one try to take my damn head off in a tree one evening.I really don't think they fear much of anything. You gotta respect their abilities though, The are awesome hunters.I think they may migrate [not sure] they are indiginous to areas like Texas.

Psalm 27:1 The Lord is my light and my salvation, whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life;of whom shall I be afraid?

I think you're talking about an American Kestrel, not a Coopers Hawk like pictured here.

Fred are they common in central Al. ? when we picked cotton they would fly around us catching big grass hoppers . i never saw them when i cut stalks . i figured the red tails scared them .

the sharp shinned hawks I've seen look just like Coopers but smaller, faster flyers.
