I pass through Luverne several times a year going to and coming from a friend's hunting camp.
A little more than a year ago, I read something on this forum about a restaurant there called Preston's Steak & Grill. I've been wanting to try it ever since, but hadn't because it wouldn't be eating time when I went through, or it would be on a Sunday night when they were closed.
Well, last night it worked out that I would be going through at dinner time and it was a night that they are open, so I dropped in to see what it was all about, and I'm glad I did!
They started me off with a garden salad with homemade ranch dressing. Good stuff! My entree was the large ribeye with fried green beans on the side. My steak was HUGE, and was a perfect medium rare.
Mighty fine eating after two days in the woods. The owner came out to check on me to see how I liked my meal. He seemed like a pretty good guy! It was good to meet you Robbie.
I'm going to have to work on my timing of passing through Luverne. I'm already looking forward to going back and trying something else.

I've been wanting to get by there myself. My timing has always been bad, also. Next week the timing will be good, so I'm gonna go and take my Granddad. Nothing like good food and supporting a fellow Aldeer member at the same time. thumbup

It is some good stuff, and you won't leave there hungry I can assure you. Their portions are huge!

We are locals and went there 5 or six times when it opened. The first time was a great steak!!! The next 4 was tough, on the last one I bought from there was cold and raw when it hit the table. When I said something the cook came out of kitchen hollaring he had been cooking steak since he was 14 and said it was supposed to b cold and raw. Last dime he will ever get from my family

Coming from pike county, take a left at the light. When you get to the second light, it's on the corner on your left
