10 to 15 is common.
Wife did it for a long time before nursing school and could make pretty decent money under the table.

Think about it this way. Why would it be acceptable for someone who is underpaid and disgruntled to make your your chicken nuggets AND keep your child? I dont know that I would want someone watching my young child that would accept pennies as hour for doing so.
before I did that Id just throw some golf fish crackers on the floor, lock the doors when I left and hope for the best.

20 per hour if she is smoking hot. How old are your babysitters? I may need a contact number...

We usually do at least 10 for one of the daycare teachers which is more than they make at the daycare. If it's at night for a few hours while we go out it is usually 15 or so an hour. I like to make it worth their while so they will come back when called on short notice.

I like to make it worth their while so they will come back when called on short notice. DING! DING! DING! We have a winner! We don't need a babysitter extremely often since the grandparents are close by. But when I need one, I want to know that they will jump at the opportunity.

I think we usually paid $20 to $25 an hour, maybe more, and we knew the sitter and their parents, had their numbers, checked in, etc.
I always figured paying a babysitter quite well was worth it.

I think my daughter gets paid $15-$20 hour. She is at UAB taking elementary education and helps the kids with their homework. She was pretty much a nanny for a family and they just moved to MS and had several other families in the neighborhood contact her since she was available. She can pretty much baby sit whenever she wants and the last family gave her a Escalade to drive the kids in.

We have only used a babysitter a few times when my boys were young, back 10+ years ago. $10.00 an hour was going rate then I think. A really good babysitter is a great blessing and they need to be paid well as they are basically taking over our role as parents for several hours.
Now that we have young ones again as foster parents, we've been blessed in a special way. A home school family's daughter who is 17 asked us if she could volunteer to babysit the kids from time to time as a service ministry. I felt bad the first couple of times we said "sure, come on over" because I didn't mind paying. She is great with the kids and is now our "go to" babysitter. If we are gone for more than 2 hours, I insist she takes some money though. She argued she didn't want any, but I finally convinced her it was fine for her to serve as a ministry but let us at least give her a little something as a reward for helping.
This has freed up my wife to be able to travel to some away basketball games this season. We might be gone for 7-8 hours and we've given her $40 last time and she had a fit that it was too much. Too much? Hardly...works out to be about $5 an hour. had to really insist that she take the money.
I was feeling like a cheapskate and didn't want to be taking advantage of her kindness, so my wife and I talked with her mother. Her mom said her daughter really wanted to help out because she loves the kids and it was her way of serving the Lord through a ministry she could do. But she was so grateful for the $ and it went straight into her own college fund. The Lord is at work in her heart and through that process He is blessing us with some extra time to focus on our boys.
