I'm needing to buy a lock on stand for next season as well as some climbing sticks. My need is primarily for public lands where they can't be left so I want something light. I looked at a few but none of them look like they have a seat that I could sit in all day.
What stand do you use and sticks or steps?
Comfort first, weight second.

I wouldn't advise using a lockon unless you are gonna leave it. I leave several lockons up on public land all year. If they are in the right places, it is highly unlikely they will come up missing.

Another option would be climbing spikes, and a lockon. I know a guy that does that instead of using a climber. He carries the lockon in, shimmies up the tree, sets it, and climbs in.

I like screw in steps with lock ons, but can't use on public land. Spend the money and buy a Lone Wolf lock on and climbing sticks. They pack together great. The seat doesn't look comfortable, but it is.

I use to set my lock ons up every time I hunted using screw in steps. Lock ons are super easy to hang.

I wouldn't have a lock on unless I was going to leave it. I hunt public land and I carry a climber in with me. I have a summit viper. I have the summit battle bags on it. Every thing I need to hunt is on my stand except my bow. I would look into a climbing stand and I would look into the open shot by summit.

I just bought an XOP air raid. Haven't had a chance to use it yet, but I like it so far. It has a pretty thick padded seat. I'll be using mine with muddy climbing sticks.

Trouble is tree selection, some if the places I hunt are thick and the trees are never straight enough to climb, too big, full of vines, lbs too big to trim...etc.
I missed a couple of opportune shots because I couldn't get set in the tree I wanted.

I saw a millennium lock on that had a seat made from trampoline material, it looked pretty comfy. Also looked at a muddy stand, it's seat looked cushy just not very big.

In those type of situations, I would recommend using a ground blind, or leaving the stand in there. If it is truly that thick, then the chances of someone finding it are slim to none. You start hauling lock on sticks through brush like that, and you are gonna sound like WWIII every time you go through there.

Sounds like you are good to go then! I'm not 100% sure but I'd be willing to bet if you can put a lock on in a tree then more times than not you can climb it... I also like the idea of a ground blind in your situation

I've tried a lot and sold them all and have gone with the Millenniums. You won't beat these for comfort and ease of setup. I have the m100 and some m150 Monsters.

I've used Leverage and Lone Wolf for packing in on public land...definitely like the seat better on the Leverage.

If you are wanting comfort first, then a millennium M100 is the ticket...I like the Lone Wolf sticks...

However, for what you are wanting to do, I'd go with a Lone Wolf Alpha and Lone Wolf Sticks....I've sat repeated all day sits in one and I'm a good bit bigger than you....Not the most comfortable but it worked....

A climber would be a lot easier that trying to set up a lockon stand every time you go into the woods

I just sold my summit viper and switching to portable loc on as well. The way some of these stands and sticks are made, you can get set up just as quick as a climber...

I'm probably going with the lone wolf assault and lone wolf sticks...

Millennium has two new stands coming out in 2015...the M60 and the Microlite

M60 looks like an aluminum version of the M50...i think they said it weighs 13lbs?

Microlite is a very small stand but only weighs 9 lbs. Google it and you'll find a couple of videos from the ATA show on them...

FWIW, I have a millennium M25 and it is VERY comfortable...just not real easy to take on/off.

lone wolf for sure

Millennium is the way to go. You can buy a few cam locks for them and then have several different options. You have to have climbing sticks for each one but you only need to buy 1 stand. i don't care for screw in steps so I use climbing sticks, and the good thing is I can remove the bottom or bottom 2 sections and no one is gonna get up there. After getting burned by having people climb in a lock on that you worked hard at scouting and hanging, and then they shoot the buck you've been hunting you'll figure a way to keep them out!
