The Facebook group doesn't effect the amount I log on here and never will. It sure ain't gonna destroy this site. Like said earlier, the Facebook page will calm down some after it's been around a while. I do like the page though.

Daniel, I am not being a puss. I know how this site works and I am friends with the owners. Simple matter is, it creates less trafficking for this site. I know it is easier to post a picture on Facebook. I wish it was easier to post one on here. I always end up posting hunting pictures there first. I post a lot of pictures on Facebook. No one is saying Facebook is the devil. No one is saying please don't go to Facebook.

Just, if you like this site and want it to survive, try to keep Aldeer stuff here.

While I get what you are saying, there is also another side to that perception. Mine for example, I have already turned off my notifications on the FB page because its a very cluttered feed without organization and topics/sub forums, etc unlike the board. And here I am reading the board, not on FB.


You arent on a particular FB page to gain knowledge and get information. Thats what forums are for, thats the downside of facebook.

I don't get on here as much anymore because of all the dang whining, bickering, and ganging up on new members. I like to joke around but the grammar Nazi's and the group of straight up ass holes on here will run this place in the ground before facebook will.

You have not been around long enough to know when this site was full of assholes. They have survived 15 years with the grammar nazis.

Facebook is crap compared to this place if you are looking for info or wanting to cut up. I like having the FB page just so I can get to know everyone a little bit better. Put faces with handles see they are family oriented and maybe meet a few more because I didn't know they lived 5 minutes from me. But Aldeer is here and it will stay. Why because the set up is great and things are easy to find.

I do Facebook but I don't particularly like the format (too congested). I'm not on aldeer Facebook though, I come here for that, just because. The only complaint I have about aldeer's sight is the copy n paste feature. It's HELL on a phone to scroll through pages of copied stuff to get to a new post. Other than that, I DON'T like change!

If I can post pictures on here anyone can. It only took me three years and hours of YEKRUT 's time to help to do it but it might can be learnt in half that time with the right band width and updated techno gadgets and such reboots. And the gramer Germans can kiss my big ole hairy butt. I catch enough of that crap at home. Should have gone or should have went. What does it matter? You still should have done it!

Quite honestly if you can't figure out how to post a picture on a forum then you might not have any business on a computer.

I will agree with beadlescomb about the whining and bickering. That's why I have quit posting so much on here. I still come here and read but the Facebook page is more or less, hey guys look at this. It's about the same as the aldeer group texts but it's not divided into different categories like aldeer so I will keep coming here.

I prefer this site because I don't have to look at women in yoga pants unless I choose to click the thread.

I am the one that started the aldeer Facebook site. Nobody else was responsible for that or the name of the group. I was simply trying to do something to help this community and I never wanted to take anything away from it. I designed the rules out of respect for the aldeer management. In retrospect, I realize that I should have asked permission to use the name aldeer.

The problem with this site is that the technology is dated. Relative to the Facebook media it is very difficult to share photographs and documents. That fact alone allows Facebook to give us a great way to get to know each other better as we know what each other looks like and we can gain a lot of insight into each others individual lives.

Truth be told, these message boards are becoming a thing of the past. I would encourage aldeer management to look at the emerging technologies and form a media plan to keep this community alive for another generation. My grandchildren are to young to hunt right now but when they are of age I want them coming here and using this community as a resource ... Not only for hunting but for living their lives in general.

I love the aldeer community and would never do anything intentionally to harm it. I am a developer with 30 years experience and I offer my services for free to the aldeer management if they become interested in examining the emerging technologies and developing a plan.

As far as the facebook group with the aldeer name goes, I offer my sincere apology for not asking permission to use it in the first place. I am now offering up the Facebook group itself to the aldeer management as a resource. If y'all want it let me know and we can work something out that will be of benefit to all of us. If not then please contact me and I will change the Facebook group name to something else.
