Hello all. Im new to the forum here. The wife and I are moving to Odenville in february. I am active duty air force. I am looking for at least 200 acres to lease in st. Clair county. Would love to be able to have something leased before Turkey season. If anyone knows of anything please let me know. If you know of a bigger parcel of land and are looking for a good trophy minded hunter to lease it with you please contact me. Im not looking for a place to go and kill everything that moves. I hunt hard and reapect the animals and the land. Im a trophy minded hunter and will kill a few does a year and then only shoot mature bucks. We are buying a home in southern oaks. It is off of George crow rd. Closing on it the 16th. I have around 1800 acres to hunt back home in Georgia, which is only 4.5hrs away but it would be nice to find something close to the house. I have read a lot on the clubs around there and it doesn't seem like many of them are that good. You never really hear the good about clubs, just the bad so this information could be misleading.

Someone has got to know of some land somewhere.

LOve Joy reality . They have some land they will lease in St Clair county BUT its very over priced and you can usually only lease it 1 year at a time. check out their web site

Interested to see any responses to this. I live right by odenville in margaret. I tried to find somewhere reasonably close with no luck this year. Ended up in a lease about an hour and 20 mins away in Bibb county.
There's Majestic in Pell City area, but it's huge like 12k acres or something and not sure about their waiting list. I don't remember seeing any posts this year about them looking for members.

Call them. ASk for Lyman. Any land they have for sale they will lease. They may ask 12 dollars an acre, but they will negociate with you on price.

Majestic usually has openings every year, and I believe they were looking for members this summer.

There's a lot of private land, private farms, and high human population in that part of the world. Not the best place to just stumble on 200 acres.

Good luck, but it's gonna be an area where you really need to know somebody. Heck, I knew lots of people when I lived there - but I wasnt from there - so it was tough.

Not really looking to get in a club unless they are trophy minded and dont have a million members. If I dont find something I will just make the trek back home every weekend or something and go on a hunt somewhere. Went up to illinois this year and killed a 171 3/8. Buck had broken both brows and and one was split so he would have been very close to 180. Chances of that happening again isnt very good though...lol.

Yea it can thats why the bare minimum would be 200. I rather have mote but ig its just me it wouldn't be too bad I dont think. Everyone in georgia hunts and so do they in louisiana. Im on a club now with 5 mbrs and we have a little over 3000 acres leased. However everyone around us kills everything they see and try to slip in on us. I understand completely about areas being overpopulated with hunters. Just be nice to find something gof the wife and I and maybe a buddy whenever I wanted.

I own nearly two hundred acres in Odenville if you are interested in buying. I developed Southern Oaks and still own the adjoining property that is undeveloped. We hunt it and have killed some nice bucks there. Send me a PM if you are interested.

It's not really the right time of year to be looking for a lease/club. Most leases/club memberships run from May-April, so lessors and clubs don't yet know what they're going to have available yet.

Sounds like widespread has exactly what you need.

Im just an ol air force boy. I cant afford 200 acres. Hence why I want to lease. I got plenty of family land in ga to hunt just want something close to the house.

I have got to find something. I need to get in the woods close to the house thisnyear. That drive to ga all the time is gone get old. Plus I need to stixk one with the new creed xs.

I lived here for 2 years before I finally broke down and joined a club in the area and that was even hard to find!!!

I would join the george crowe club but dont know how to get in touxh with any of those folks.

Yea thats what I jave heard as well. I would still like to actually have a conversation with the guy about it myself and not just hear say.

I have talked to a guy that IS in it, so its not HEAR SAY. He wanted to get his neighbor AND friend, in it. Thats the guy I also talked too, that said he AND the man in the club had been trying to get him into the club for 7-8 years. Good luck with it.

I wasnt saying you were lying or wrong. I have heard the same thing. Just want to talk to the president or whatever and see how long the wait is and everything else.

Clubs are hard to find around here. Found a true trophy club this year near ashville with 8,000 acs and 23 people and some of the best land I have hunted around here but they just told us everyone got the boot and they split it into three clubs all three are now split between the three top guys and they aren't looking for members. From what I understand it's a buddy buddy deal and no amount of money can get u in so I'm back looking in the same area again and it's hard to find anything worth hunting around here. Good luck

I live in the area also. Can't find anything. Hate driving 2 hours to a club. Used to be money could get a guy in a decent club. Guess I will continue hunting WMAs.

I sure hope I can find something. If I do I will let you guys know, if the tract is big enough. I may have found something right outside of pell city. Wont know until May though. I would love to find something right here close. If I don't find something close and this dont work out I will be making the trip to family land in La and Ga.

Your best chance in St. Clair County is to get in with a private land owner, not enough timber company land left for leasing, it is all hunting clubs with long waiting lists. Majestic Outdoors is about 12,000 acers but has like 120 members, way to many in my opinion. If clubs would only take fewer members and go up in dues, they would have much better success and better quality game. We have a few private land spots around 1000 acers here in St. Clair County that we hunt. Not as many deer as other areas of the state, can make for some long deer seasons. Don't be afraid to try the old "stop and ask for permission" method, they can't eat you.

Soterra has a couple of leases in St. Clair they go really fast. I looked at 1 piece last year, pretty ugly property.
