I decided last year that I was going to write down the details of every hunt I made this year. So here is the numbers.

I have caught 89 hogs with 51 of them being boars and 38 sows. Due to my work schedule I only got to hunt 27 days. So that is a average of 3.29 hogs per hunt.

Of the 89 hogs I caught 36 in Sumter county, 31 in Choctaw county, 10 in Clarke county, and 12 in Washington county.

I hope I have shook the bad luck I had in 2013 and will be back breaking 100 a year for 2015.

And oh yeah one more statistic. It didn't cost the land owners not one single penny. As a matter of fact I paid them a combined total of $4754 to hunt thier properties.

That is a pretty good year, Caleb!
I did not keep near that many details....mainly just number.
But, that is a good way to do it and provides some good info for those interested!

And, yep....it is hard to hunt and work full-time! smile

Caleb,

I am not trying to be a jerk here. But I was asked on my thread about cost per so I am interested in what you think your cost per pig was? Lease fees, gas, dogs, dog food, vet bills/supplies, ATV repairs, corn/feeders if you had any out, etc.....

Not being a jerk, either.....but, the question was about the costs to the landowner/leaseholder.

My dog feed bill is about $55 a month, I don't have much of a vet bill because I do most of it my self and get expired sutures from the hospital for free but for meds and supplies plus the dog that had to have surgery I would say $400 bucks, I don't know how much I spent on gas, No atv repairs ( Knock on wood), I have one feeder out for deer but since its been out I have caught hogs so $200 on corn. Tracking system is 3 yrs old so it has already paid for it self. So with all that plus my leases totals out to $6014. That's $67.57 per hog that I paid to have a lil fun. Lol

I caught 203 hogs for the year at NO COST to the landowner, as for as my cost per hog, $46.26 per hog, I think that's cheap compared to the last 20 years that I was chasing women, out of the 5 or 6 I caught it cost me on average of $81666.54 each..
For myself, i'm going to stick with hogdogs....

Well, I guess I will throw in on it, too.....

I caught 242 for the year.
And, I feel like I got at least $1 Million worth of enjoyment out of it. I really enjoyed the hunts I got to share with good friends, old friends, new friends and ESECIALLY introducing young people to the Outdoors! smile
