I went street tires with the set of tires I have now. Before that, I would get 50,000 miles out of BFG ATs on my 2500HD.

83% of all statistics are made up.

Anybody who gets over 40,000 miles out of a set of tires on a 3/4 ton truck. Don't use a 3/4 ton much. Don't care what kind of tires you got, if you tote a load they gonna wear out.

I had a set of cooper atp's that were great. Slung some rocks but other than that fine. Sold the truck so don't know how long they would last. Had 20k miles with plenty of tread. Now I have a set of cooper at3's on my truck. They are good too. Just a little road hum. But other than that good.

My 3/4 ton truck is my only vehicle. I drive it daily. Several times a year I pull my 25' gooseneck trailer loaded down with a 9200 lb. tractor along with whatever equipment is on it. I use it during hay season moving rolls of hay out of the fields with the gooseneck trailer. I use my truck all kinds of ways on my farm.

Got 72,000 miles out of those high priced Michelin's doing all this with my truck.

But I just don't want to spend that much money on tires this go round. That's why I was inquiring about the Cooper tires.

That's hard to believe cuz. But I guess I could see that. We put over 20,000 on the trailer a good bit, we do good to get 20,000 miles out of them.

Daniel,

Don't mean to mislead you at all. I'm just a part time farmer. grin I work a regular job and have a few head of cows (20) and a small hay operation here on the side. I don't move but around 80-100 round rolls of hay per year. Usually put up 200-400 square bales per year.

I haul my tractor to our hunting club about 20 miles (round trip) from my house 5 or 6 times a year.

The rest of the time my truck is driven back and forth to my regular job everyday. It's about a 34 mile round trip to my job daily.

Most of the miles my tires get on them are just daily work commute miles and not pulling a load.

I don't put no where near 20,000 miles on tires pulling a load.

Also gotta keep in mind apples to oranges. As DW said use of the vehicle makes a huge difference. And, Imho, an aggressive tread is never going to last as long as an all-terrain tread. Those bfg's are pretty aggressive compared to the cooper's. More aggressive tread = less rubber meeting the road = shorter life of the tire.

Tires requirements seem to always be a compromise between, intended use, load ratings, tread pattern, tread life, and price.

The last 3/4 ton truck I owned was in 08. It was an 06 F250 crew cab diesel with a 2 inch front leveling kit and a 15,000 pound warn winch mounted on a brush guard. It came with 285 BFG AT's. After I put the leveling kit on I bought new BFG AT's in 315's. I was in the contracting business at the time and hauled around a thousand pounds of cement, mortar, sand and stone on a daily basis plus pulled a twelve foot double axle trailer when needed. The best I ever got out of a set was thirty to thirty five thousand.
