How many of you use a headlamp/flashlight on the way to and from your stand/shooting house?Do you use a red or white lens?
It has been really dark the last couple of mornings with the clouds thought about using one but not sure it would be a good idea.

If I use one it is a stream light stylus green LED. Usually if on private land I go in without a light.

The other morning I kept walking off my trail (I raked my trail to my stand, works great) onto the side and made enough noise to wake the dead.

I use one and mark my trails with SMALL pieces of reflective tape. Straight in and straight out. I started the tape well off main roads and trails and that keeps the normal joe from finding it. It also allows me to send a guest/buddy straight to the tree without me having to walk them in, saving me time in the mornings. The tree to climb always had 3 pieces of retro. The tape will last several years as well.

Funny, my wife just told me to spray paint my trail with reflective paint.

I use a flashlight everytime. Those that walk through the deer woods without a light are rolling the dice.

Had ladder stands stolen over the years by marking the trials like this. Works okay though if you carry your climb in and out each time.

I use a Streamlight with a green light. I use it all the time.

Green stream light head lamp. Always! It's like your orange at night. Hunters orange won't help you if it's dark. I honestly believe that a light is just as important to safety in the woods as a harness is.

i wear a streamlight nano light on a lanyard around my neck. i can hold it between my teeth if i am climbing down a tree or a ladder stand. i also walk out of and into the woods with it turned "on" outside my jacket or bibs. it produces enough light to let "someone" know it's not an animal walking around.

it's not that i need to see, it's that i need to be seen. some of the places we hunt, are almost completely surrounded by houses and i never know who may be out there hunting when they shouldn't.

i don't feel it has hindered my hunting in any way.

when i am in the shooting house, in my climber or ladder stand, i just tuck the light inside my baselayer shirt. then when it's time to go, out it comes.

Been using a surefire kroma flashlight for about 5 years now. Has white, red, and blue led's. I use the red when walking to my stands in the mornings.

If it means me not crunching leaves, breaking limbs and causing a lot of noise I use one. If rather get in quite. If I'm walking a road no.

What will work to get you right to a spot in complete darkness is fishing line. When you leave tie it off about shoulder high to your stand then run it back, keeping it up and looping it around a a tree every 10-20 yards to keep it tight and high. When you get to the road or start point tie it off and mark it with reflective tape. Next AM locate it, untie, then roll it up on something as you go in. You can leave it but use a light weight line that will break if something large hits it. We used this to get back and forth to forward positions in the jungle in Vietnam.

^^^^This. It only takes one person tresspassing to shoot you at daylight or dark. I don't shine it around to spook game, but it's on if I am moving in the woods.

No way would I walk without one on private or public land! To many idiots, poachers, and trespassers out there. Any one of those three mentioned may just shoot you dead.
