Need a recommendation for a target for my son who just got his first compound bow for his birthday. He is 13 and only using 35lb draw weight for now. Looking for a target that will last and one that he can shoot broadheads or field points. I'm not a bow hunter (yet...still want to though) so I don't know anything about the different types of targets.

Thanks for any recommendations for good ones or the bad ones to avoid.

With his draw weight it might be ok but I destroyed a Block target in about one good afternoon of broadhead tuning. Rhinehart makes good targets, they're kinda pricey but they last a long time.

Rhinehart but like Reaper said, they are pricey. maybe a Glen Dale buck that has the replaceable core.

Blob targets are supposed to be the best all of the bow shops local to me use them. This guy at blobtargets.net is the only one I could find that had the thicker ones with the dense foam. Note density is everything and they ain't pretty just a really good target.

You can get a blob that is too dense. Pain in the ass to pull an arrow and it really wears on the arrow. But, if you get the right one, they are hard to beat.

rhinehart--spend the extra dollars. will last a long time. many sides, can use couple of sides for broadheads and rest for field points. i keep mine outside (although that probably reduces life). Nonetheless, I'm going on at least 3 years.

another vote for rhinehart. I've had the 18-1 target for several years now

I have a block and keep it outside. Had it for two years and shoot a lot and it still does the job
