So cooper has been invited to new York and will most likely finish 2nd in the he is man voting. Kiffin is one of five finalist for the broyles award that goes to the best assistant coach. I think kiffin probably wins it. I've gotta say even with my crimson colored glasses on I am amazed at how well this hire worked out. Kiffins career was a dumpster fire, saban saw potential and had the guts to give him a shot. There is no way bama is in the CFP without kiffin. Crazy but true.

There is no way bama is in the CFP without kiffin. Absolutely correct. And Saban was smart enough to trust him, make changes, and the results have been outstanding. Whether Kiffen is smart enough to stay in Tuscaloosa for 3-4 years and do what he does best - coordinate, plan, coach, prod, teach - is yet to be seen. IMO he is not HC material and is best suited for being an OC.

Doing what he has at Bama is gonna have people looking hard at him again... Wouldn't surprise me if he's gone at the end of the season...

If Kiffen leaves after this season he's truly an idiot incapable of getting past his ego. He's best suited as an OC. But even if he does mature into HC material, staying with Saban and Alabama's talent-tradition-support for 3-4 years would be more invaluable than anything else he could do right now.

Some jewels on the Kiffin hire...there's just too much material to choose from. RTR fellas, enjoy those bloomin onions. I knew it was bad....... But, my Gosh!! That is the sign of a desperate, broken man.
I guess when UT told him no thanks he had to think of others ways to beat Gus. There is no good to come from Kiffin being around any team.

I wondered how long it would be before somebody dug some of those ^^^^^ up. I'm too lazy and don't care enough to dig that stuff up, but when it's right there easy to get to....I rather enjoy it. Thanks XV...you da man!

Kiffen took Radio and made him into a good QB and his play calling was excellent. I think the reason he can't be a head coach is the same reason some frat guys flunk out of college; they can't say no to the party.
He got ego checked and standing on the sidelines getting yelled at has been good for him. I don't think one season is enough for someone to be stupid enough to turn a program over to him again but stranger things have happened.
Cooper is probably the best I've ever seen in college.

Kiffin/Simms without Cooper is a low to mid caliber conference duo. There was no magic created by Kiffin. He simply put the ball in his best player's hand. Cooper had the most receptions of any WR in the history of the SEC. Not a bad move on Kiffins part but hardly anything special. He had enough sense to do it though.

You were one of the main ones on here laughing about how much you were looking forward to the season with kiffin and Blake Sims as the starter. You've got too much war eagle in you. So, Bud and Pat and Campbell and Washington and Burger weren't good when Bo and Tommie and Brent and the crew were at AU in the '80s? They were just getting it in the hands of the best RBs on the team. Wayne wasn't doing much since he had Kurt and Porter and Tracy and those guys on D, too. Nothing special.

Kiffin did a masterful job running the offense and will no doubt supplant the 4 eyed vest as the conferences offensive genius. Gus will be coaching an FCS school in a couple of years.

Kiffin/Simms without Cooper is a low to mid caliber conference duo. There was no magic created by Kiffin.. You may be right, but if you'd rather deal in facts than speculation............ Auburn without healthy Duke Williams lost at home to a really piss poor Texas A&M team and got totally embarrassed on the road by a Georgia team that was a big disappointment by Georgia standards. That doesn't really speak very well of Gus' abilities either.

Without a ton of work Sims couldn't have gotten the ball to Cooper on a hand off. He was one of the worst I've ever seen at a big DI school. Under pressure he reminded me of Warren Gilson against Alabama a couple years ago. I can't stand Kiffen but I don't know that anyone else could have made Sims into a serviceable qb.
