What kind of of fawn survival rates are you seeing? Saw 5 adult does today and only 2 had fawns. Saw more deer later but it became too dark to accurately judge what they were. Based on trail camera photos this seems to be fairly accurate.

What are other hunters seeing as far as fawns?

I'd say 60% of does I've seen have had at least 1 fawn. 10% have had twins.

Would walk over a naked woman to get to a gobblin turkey!

Fawn recruitment has been so low where I'm hunting this year it is frightening.

Mine is better this year than last.....

BUT, still, by cameras and visuals...MAYBE 40%.

Ironically, the fawns that I am seeing are normally twins.

Probably running 50% predation. (conservative guess)

At what % is it considered critical ?

Our deer sightings are still okay. See a fair number of does and young to mid-age bucks. What options are there to help sustain this? Improve fawning cover and predator removal are two that come to mind, but are easier said than done.

None of the does we have seen on the hoof have fawns. I have only seen a few on camera. The ones on camera seem to have older dominant does as Mom. Makes you wonder if shooting the older more mature does is the right thing to do after all... if their experience is what's helping the fawns survive. We are holding off on the does unless its a kid or someone bow hunting.

I have seen a lot of twins this year but if I had to put a number on it I would say between 50-60% on one lease and 40% on the other.

We have a big doe at the house that raised her fawns within 100yds of the house this year. I saw her and the twins multiple times after they were born close by. The yotes rarely come too close to the house because of the dogs but the dogs don't mess with the fawns.
