Say someone's missing or they don't want to be found, is there a way to trace the phone? I know the law can but is there any other way?

i work for a 9-1-1 center and have to deal with cell phone companies and tracking all the time, they can only ping a phone that has called 9-1-1 and 99% of the time will only do in a life or death situation. plus the phone has to be on for that to happen, as far as the apps go that track it you have to have the GPS and phone on.

On iphone it's Find My iPhone app. All you need is the app installed on a phone and it turned "on" and know the persons Apple ID and password. I use it so in case something happens in the woods my wife could find me also for my teenage daughter in case she loses her phone (or someone steals it) and I can keep track of her too :-)
Now if someone has your phone such as a thief all they have to do is delete the app and you can't trace it. That's why you need to use a lock code on your phone too. To delete the app you have to have the apple password and email... It use to not be that way but they updated the app.
I love the rut. The woods are like a bunch of roided up meatheads fighting over a girl.
