Was fishing a tourney on Neely a few years ago and just bought one of those slim life jackets that have the c02 cartridge in them. I slung it in the bottom of the boat, and a few minutes later i jumped down in the bottom of the boat to retie. When i did, my foot hit the pull cord and BOOOOM!!!!!!. You would have though i got shot with a 12 gauge it was so loud. Took 5 years off my life that day.lol

Several years back crappie fishing with my son 13/14 yrs old at time on Henry Neely lake. Mallard ducks all around banks chasin one another. We took break to eat some lunch which included crackers. My son is tossin em out and ducks are all around boat eaten em . I'm not lookin at time and hear something splash. I thought he had fell in only to turn around and see he had caught a mallard male duck with his hands. Made a picture at time wished I still had it.

Fishing at night and running across the lake about 60 miles an hour. Ran into flock of coots. they were bouncing of trolling motor and one hit partner in chest. It started running up his chest crapping whole way. He didn't see it, but I thought it was hilarious.

It was very cold and we were fishing for big bass. My partner decided to step on ice chest to get better shot under a pier.
He was a big guy and ice chest collapsed. He went into water head first. It was sleeting and very cold. It seemed he jumped back in boat and I swear his hair was not wet.

haleyville al,
Me and my dad was fishing below wheeler. He was in the back of the boat throwing a car. Rig with a spoon and a 3/4 oz. Weight. He made a long cast. Bout the time his bait started to drop a crane snagged the spoon. At first dad thought he hadb one on til he saw the line going up. As soon as started reeling the crane hit rhe water. We didnt want to cut the line so dad fought it all the way to the boat. After a few mins he pulls it next to boat. He said grab him and bring him in. Alright if you haven't ever been close to one of cranes they are and have a sword on their head.. I looked at dad and said you caught him. Thats tour problem. Dad laughed and reached down to grab the bird. When those thing are . Pissed they can move their head like a wood pecker. It tore his arm up. He finally got hold of the crane and brought it in the boat. He held it while I untangle d the line and pulled the hook out. When I pulled the hook out it went nuts. Got away from dad and went in the bottom of the boat. At that point he almost had a bass tracker. Dad would up punting the bird out of the boat.

one February morning at Millers Ferry, Water temp 47, air temp around freezing, pitching a jig. When I pitched up next to a log, my jig moved and I set the hook, but it was solid into a log. as i pulled up on the log, it would just sink down deeper. Well, I got don on my knees and started winching the log up with 20# line and a flipping stick, so i caould get my jig back. As im preparing to grab the log when it surface to unhook the jig, imagine my surprise when I pull up a 10' gator near my hand! I screamed like a little girl and gave him my jig. I share that info each time we go duck hunting and are wading around, thinking it is to cold for the gators.

My long time tournament partner "Blade form this site" and i were fishing a tournament in the back waters of the tombiggbee in Coffeeville. If you've fished there, there are 500 grinnell per square acre. Well Blade catches a little 10 inch grinnel on a spinnerbait, and thinks that as small as he is, he will just lip him and get him off. As he stuck his thumb in the mouth, the little feller picked its entire body up as he clamped down on Blades thumb. He squealed like a little girl, and i had to go and use a pair of needle nose to get that grinnel off of his thumb. Blood was running down his fingers, and i asked Blade if it was his or the fish and he didn't know. Needles to say, he doesn't lip grinnell anymore! rofl

Once I was living in Texas and fishing tournaments with my cousin. we were to practice for tournament on Toledo Bend but I had to work. He went and I drove up that nite. It was first tournament so it was feb and very cold. My cousin was sick so we decided id practice alone the next day. Well I ran North to timber area with a sandy road running thru it. I was pitching a jig and hooked one around 7 pounds. When I swung the fish into bottom of boat I realized there was a ft of water in floor. It seems my cousin had hit something and neglected to tell me or check for damage. I opened battery compartment and could see water flowing in faster than pump was getting it out. I released fish and headed south. I was up around Huxley bay and needed to get back to Pendelton bridge. Wel, at first it was ok , but water kept coming in. Soon I could only go about as fast as a barge and the whole boat was full of water. I was struggling to keep tackle boxes from floating out of boat. Only my shoulders and outboard were above the water. Ill never forget the looks I got from people I pasted, but not one offered to help. I had that yammy 200 screaming but only going about 5 to ten miles and hour. As soon as I got to marina I drove boat as far up on bank as I could. Its odd to see water flowing from a boat into the lake. The hull was Kevlar and that was a waste of money, not to mention repairs never held.

When I saw your handle I figured you were going to tell that. The only untruth is I don't think he was but about 8" long. I like to have bled out

I never knew what one was till a buddy of mine caught one when we were fishing together in Valdosta, GA. Neither one of us knew what kind of fish it was till we got back to the launch pad. I showed the fish to a guy and asked him what it was - he told us a grinnell but said most people called them mudfish.

In the early 70's, back when I lost my mind, I was in the Valley Bass Club.
We had a club tournament at Martin and our group didn't have a problem with drinking beer during the tourney. Many times, most would have a half case or more during the day.
It was weigh-in time; we were waiting on the last boat to come to the ramp. It was raining and we were all in a hurry to head home to dry out.
Well the last boat came in and let's say the guy in the front was Bubba. (14 foot flat bottom aluminum Monarch)
They pulled up to the bank, and Bubba, in his yellow rain slicker stepped out to pull the boat up farther on the bank.
Well, Bubba lost his balance and fell backwards into the boat with his back hitting a big Plano double sided tackle box that was open.
His partner and a couple of the rest of us helped get him to his feet.
Seems like he had a couple of fish on a stringer and walked to the truck that had a set of scales on the tailgate.
As he walked by and you could see his back. He had at least a dozen lures stuck in his back dangling from the yellow slicker.
Long story short, we didn't even weigh his fish, we just named him winner of the tournament and headed home. Don't know who helped get the lures out of him. Pretty sure it was Doc Whitehead.
Talk about funny, we had people nearly passing out from laughing as he made his way to the weigh-in. laugh

fishing off the south Fl coast in 40 feet of water with my brother. As he throws the anchor over I ask if the other end is tied? He asks if I think he is an idiot as the other end slides over the rail........

same brother, same place. We're following Manta Rays trying to catch the cobia with them. I tell brother to pull up behind a huge ten foot Manta so I can touch it. He does..I slap it on the head...it EXPLODES into warp speed , throwing a HUGE wall of water over the bow...right onto brother. I can still see his open mouth horror as the wall crashes onto him. Damn near swamped the boat.....he failed to the the humor in it...

2 summers ago my brother and myself were flipping the grass on Guntersville. I flipped my punch rig into a spot and it got drilled! I set the hook and instantly knew it was a monster. I told my brother to get ready to help get it in. At about that precise moment, My bait come flying out of the water. I was sick, I knew I had just lost a GOOD one. I reached down to pick my bait up out of the bottom of the boat only to see- hands down the smallest bass that I have ever caught. My punch rig was nearly as big as this little dude.

Apparently the little guy had ate his wheaties that morning And must have been buried up in 90 pounds of weeds. laugh

I think that I did actually have a big one hooked, the big one got loose as the little one wrestled the punch rig from him. wink

Had a flock of those dang cormorants take a flying Chit attack on my partner in the back of my boat at the dam one day. I was ticked but seeing him covered in it and gagging saying "oh Lord it stinks so bad!", well that had me rolling laughing.
Also hooked a goose on a long cast in the horshoe at pickwick early one morning. I thought I was the 1st one there at daylight an no one witnessed the cussing I put on that bird during the fight. However after the caos that occurred I saw 2 old men minnow fishing about to flip their boat laughing at me.
Night fishing below Wheeler dam one night we ran down river a ways and came upon a lil camp fire. We thought the fire was getting out of hand so I shined my spotlight. To our surprise It was 2 people getting It on!! She put on a show for us for a couple minutes before we left dying laughing. I cant type the actual name of that GPS spot on my graph so use your imagination but Its call the "f" spot to this day.

I also have a buddy who is on here who almost sank a bullet in a tourny on wheeler and almost caused me to suffer hypothermia. I told him to never ask me to fish another tourney with him. LOL where you at escimo? I will let him tell that one.

Had a friend cast a texas rigged worm into a farm pond. So happened a group of about 5 geese were flying by, and the lure hooked one in the leg area. Happened so fast he didn't know what transpired and the rod flew out of his hand. Next thing you know the goose dives to the ground and starts flopping across the dam like a drunk spaz, and drug the rod for about 50 yards until the line broke. At least he got the rod back. Watching him chase the rod going down the bank being pulled by a goose is a memory I'll never forget, almost peed in my pants I was laughing so hard.
