Like Fred, this is not the first one to get the .22 treatment. I have that feeder there so I can tell what the buck deer in the area are, my camp is a school bus with all I need and has a nice picture window(windshield). I was out there one night and a good sized boar showed up, and I didn't feel like fooling with him so I went out and ran him off. 10 minutes later he was back, ran him off again. He came back the third time and he ran me back to the bus that time. I put that .22 in my hands and slipped up to about 35 yards and gave him the red eye express also. Killed a bunch of hogs at that place over the years.

From a few years ago with my Blackmouth Cur Storm Man with a couple small one's we caught out there. He was smart enough not to catch a big hog just bay them. A small hog he would catch and hold from the side. the .45 LC was for the big ones.

I carry a 45Colt for the same reason when hog hunting. That 255grSWC knocks the crap out of them.

Fred, he was a smart, rough dog, he would catch what I told him too. And you are right about the .45LC. I hand load mine with the max charge stuffed into a Ruger Bisley. almost need both hands when she speaks.

I shot a big boar in Livingston a few years back with a 17 Mach II. Big boy never twitched after ear hole shot.

I caught a bunch of pigs in one of my traps a few years ago and shot them all with my 22. I had a swing gate on this trap. As I lifted the trap door to enter I just got that feeling that something just wasn't right. I dropped the gate down to close it and turned around to see a boar getting back up. Yes, my rifle was on the outside leaning against a tree. The boar and I "danced" for a while and I ended up killing him with my pocket knife. I had hit him in the head when I shot him and the bullet had just flattened out and knocked him out.

Lesson learned. Make sure they are dead before you put the gun down. LOL
