Has anybody hunted any public land in Arkansas for deer? If so what kind of info can you give? I know it's mainly hunted for waterfowl and hear very little about whitetail hunting in that state. I was considering trying a hunt next year.

I've spent a ton of time on wmas hunting ducks. Here is my assessment of the deer. Se arky has more deer but fewer big bucks, Ne arky has very few deer but some very good ones. The foothills of the ozarks is a good mix of both. From the places I have seen, I would pick Dave Donaldson on a muzzleloader hunt if I wanted a big buck. Take a boat, find some high ground and willow thickets along the river. They will walk straight thru the water. Probably half the bucks I've see. Up there have been p&y or better.
