I think the probability is worse in the wind. BUT, I have seen deer move in it. I guess the probability is better being in the woods vs not.

I've killed some good bucks on cold mornings with the wind howling during the rut, but haven't seen very many on those days when the rut is not on

Not sure if it messes with the deer as much as it does the hunter. But it's my opinion that the movement is hampered "somewhat" by it. If I'm hunting in the wind, I want to be somewhere I can see a lot of ground (big plot, very open woods, etc).

Cold, windy and overcast..... It sucks to hunt in, but I've seen more big bucks killed in these conditions. During these warm type fronts, not so much. But, you ain't going to kill one sitting on the couch.

I also think that when the wind gets into the 10-15 mph range it starts to disperse/dilute your scent. I don't if it's true or not but that's my theory You are correct ,Sir.

Give me a nasty, cold, misting, breezy day over any other. I've been on several hunts that I lost count once I got over 40-50 deer.
I do not care for warm, windy days. They seem to lock up on us.
Ya'll are just overthinking it now

Hunt the high wind days during a cold front. You're welcome.
I've got some big ones on the wall hunting those conditions.

I've got some big ones on the wall hunting those conditions. How about the day after the front passes, bluebird skies and a 15-20mph north wind? Never had much luck myself. 2 days after the front is when I want to be there, along with the day of the front passing through.

The wind definitely mutes your sense of hearing which hurts hunting tight cover -advantage deer. Hunting open areas you don't rely on that sense of hearing and I think it tips the scales in the hunters favor. However, I think deer will delay movement until the wind subsides and have noticed this several times when right before sunset the wind calms and deer start showing up. If the wind is forecast to continually blow the deer are still going to move and they'll do their normal thing only they are aware of their diminished senses too and are usually a little more nervous. During the rut...disregard all that you think you know.

Biggest deer I've ever seen casually strolled across a green field at 8:30 am in a sideways Gail force rain.
