I would agree with this.

Doesn't appear to be any yelling from the kid or him telling the officer he was going to kill his $#$@%%^ @#%@ and reaching in his pockets.

I'd still like to hear both sides.

The story reads of the student's words to the policeman, which I'm sure there were several things left out which the boy did say, and several things probably left out which the boy was asked to do by the policeman.

I'd like the whole facts before I made a judgement, as I have learned not to make judgments in the past, thinking I had the whole story.

A little more facts added, which are missing to begin with, can change the whole outcome of a decision.

A ski mask on a policeman, isn't a good idea though.

Just my thoughts.

Pathetic, there at a football game cheering and getting into the game like your suppose too. Also looks like a black cop assaulting a white kid. Let's flip the scenario and that have been a black kid doing nothing wrong and a white cop pepper spray him and see what kid of reaction we'd have. I hope this cop gets his ass fired over this!

The cop might be black but you can't say that from the video. Ski mask and black gloves.

Yes, really. The way it was phrased is that if a person has power than it shall go to their head. That means in essence 100% of the time. Again, nothing could be further than the truth. Some of your examples might very well be true (again you inferred 100% of Congress), but it's not 100%. That was the only point I was trying to make.

At just about the 37 second mark the kid makes some kind of pushing motion with his hands, don't know what brought that on.

I read somewhere that BOTH of the kids parents are lawyers.....real bad juju for that asshole cop.

I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

Looks like the cop over reacted.. That said, I wouldn't want their job and the constant personal abuse they are subjected to. The disdain for police is very evident among some members on this forum and in the public in general. I look at the cop murdered in Tallahassee last week and the one shot in Gulfport yesterday and it is apparent the decline in civil society' s behavior. No wonder they snap.

Yep, that's what the story says. Hope it's true. Karma, she's a b###h.

Let me state for the record, I have no family in law enforcement. I just find, as a rule they are much niceer people than society as a whole.

You should get out more, and for sure at least start paying attention to what law enforcement has become.

I totally agree with Charlie. If your going to step up your use of force you dang sure better charge him with something. Rather it be criminal mischief or assault. IMO releasing him to the principle does nothing but strengthen the kids case. You would think that someone with 23 experience would know how to deal with a high school kid without using pepper spray.

Now I worked with a LEO for 3yrs as a dispatcher. I had no ambition to become one but I did get my fill of what type guys become officers. NOT ALL COPS ARE BAD A$$e$. Most are good guys just there to get a paycheck. BUT there are a handful that are a handful. There are more good than bad.

I posted a thread on here a couple years ago with a terrible experience I had with a Hueytown cop. That guy was all ego. Belittled me and talked to me like I was a criminal. Now that one incident doesn't mean that all Hueytown officers are bad cops.

My question is what kind of authority does a Phenix City cop have in Prattville? The ski mask is ridiculous as well.

At about the 35 second mark you get a quick glimpse of the officer's face, partially. I don't know why he had the head sock on, but it appears it is a black cop. I would have to see a bit more of the video prior to the confrontation, but it isn't available. That small of a crowd shouldn't take 20 cops to control, IMHO.

If they didn't have anything to charge him with (ie: assault on a LEO), then the LEO had ZERO reason to spray him. I agree that we cannot see the very first part of the confrontation, but what we do see is the kid with his arms and hands DOWN at his sides and showing zero aggression. The LEO was WAY out of line and they know it - that's why they didn't charge the kid with anything and just let him go.
