Just saw in interesting piece on SPAM on CBS.

395 cans produced per minute.

Main ingredients are pork shoulder and salt.

SPAM is cooked after it is put in the can.

Hawaii residents are the largest consumers of SPAM in the US.

Very interesting.

I know a guy who eats a can of SPAM and a half a loaf of whitebread everyday for lunch on the job site.

The salt content probably could choke a mule. A hot Spam sammich with yeller mustard isn't too bad now and then, though.

I found Patti LaBelle's "Over the Rainbow Mac 'n Cheese" recipe. Giving that a try this week. My arteries already have flinched two or three times.

Don't know about Spam, but I have a strange feeling there's gonna be some hard cider in my future.

In the early 90s Guam was the largest consumer of Spam and Budweiser per capita. Spam got it's start on Guam as C rations in WWII and the locals loved it. It's on the menu in lots of eating establishments there.

The show segment showed this, Spam over rice at McDonalds. You want fries with that?

I love Spam. In Hawaii the McDonalds have coconut fried pies. Dang I wish we had them here.

This is true. I lived in Hawaii for 3 years and wife was born and raised there. At McDonalds you can get fried spam, rice, and scrambled eggs for breakfast. My favorite is spam Musabi. It's a fried piece of spam on top of rice warped in sea weed like a piece of sushi.

I like a good fried spam sandwich with mayo.

Cut up Spam in thin slices, baste it with a mixture of 1/3 c brown sugar, tsp of mustard, 1/2 tsp vinegar & a little warm water to thin, cook it at 300 degrees for 30 minutes...hey that's good stuff. Don't knock it til you try it.

I like a fried spam and egg sandwich now and then.

I use to hunt in a dog club in the early '90's. When we hunted we would knock off for lunch and listen to the ball games and they would cook up some camp soup. Everybody brought a can of vegetables poured them in a large pot and this one old man always brought a large can of Spam and chip it up in the soup. It was pretty dog gone good. One day this banker fellow came as a guess and we went through the usual routine. I ask the fellow if he would like some soup? He said " I thought about it until I saw the old fellow cut up that Spam in it". He joined the club the next year an ate a cold sandwich every time we hunted.

That Andrew Zimmern guy that eats all of that nasty crap on t.v says that spam is the nastiest thing he has ever eaten.When I heard those words come out of his mouth I spewed my tea on my shirt from being caught off guard and busting out laughing.I mean this is the guy that will crunch on a battered fried vietnames cat turd.On another note everyone in my house loves spam.We make Spash around here atleast once a month.
