Does. Anybody. Hunt. Chilton. AdCounty. I. I. Have. Some. Good. Bucks. On. My. Trail. Cam. But. New. To. Vv aldeer. Just. Learning. Text. Like. Listen. To. Everyone. Learning. As. I. Go. I. Live. In. Verbena I posted this morning that I had an 8 follow a doe into the clear cut. At that time I thought he was following her but I found where she had crossed the rd and where he had come from as well and there was about a 100 yard difference
About 10 min before I saw him I tickled the rattle bag. I figured if I saw anything that it would come from my 2 o'clock which was NW (wind was out of SE) a few minutes later the doe come out with her ears pinned back and her mouth was open from running. I think she was actually running from some dogs off the club next to us.
The buck came out over my last shoulder and walked within 30 yards of my tripod and he was actively looking around . He paused and turned back the way he came, completely opposite of the doe.
This was the first time I've ever had any lunch with rattling. He was a 3 year old deer, with width just even or maybe just a little outside his ears. The main beams extended out just past his eyes. He will be a great deer in another year.

I have rattled many times. And the few times it has worked convinced me....THAT IT WORKS. If the buck is in earshot and hasn't picked up on anything that would spook it, he's coming.

Hate that your down to your last shoulder, must make hunting hard. By the way, how was lunch with that rattling, what did you have? Never tried that before will have to give it a shot next time out?

As far a rattling goes; I started having luck with it last year, this year out of 4 times in the stand (2 with my son on youth hunt) I have rattled in deer 3 times, 2 for one rattle opening day of youth hunt.

It will work if a buck is close enough to hear you. Be patient and keep trying with you ears and eyes wide open. Not a 100% deal all the time.
