I've got a NICE Remington 700 in 30-06 with Leupold mounts, but I need 475.00 for it.

If it were me I would order a ABolt III in the caliber you want. You can get one from gun buyer.com or Buds for around 475-485 then get $100 rebate from Browning which puts that gun around 380-400. To me you will not get a better made gun at that price point. You could also go get a ruger america, savage axis, remington 700 adl, and a few others at that 380 or less mark. Academy has the Axis for 280ish and the 700 adl for around 380. The Ruger american can usually be found for less than 350. Still think the deal with the Browning is hard to beat IMO.

I've seen the Rem 770's new, with a scope for $275. They ain't no beauty queen, but are supposed to be very accurate and good functioning rifles.

^This - I have a browning a-bolt 30-06 and it is the most accurate gun I have ever shot. And I paid a lot more than $400 for it.

You better lay hands on one of the new ABOLTs before you order one. It isn't the same A-Bolt that Browning is known for. Lots of cost cutting in this version. You'll get a lot better gun buying used vs a new AB3

Regarding the Rem 770. I have one that I picked up used from a buddy hitting hard times. It's pretty dang accurate. It's not a terrible budget rifle. There are far better rifles out there, but for a rifle on the cheap, it will get the job done. Makes a nice beater gun too.

My boy has an Axis. I'm pretty impressed with them for the price. One with the accutrigger would be even better.

Check with walmart, they had rem 700 in camo for $ 297 Ask and see if they have any in the back. I bought the last one in scottsboro last week for my son. The gentleman working behind the counter give me a heads up.

If u can get a new Rem 700 for less than 300, buy them all. That's a great price on a great gun.

Haven't seen one, but that's what I thought, no way they are the good ol' A- bolts, but priced about $200 less than the IIs. The Is and IIs are good, tough, accurate rifles.

The new a bolts are pitiful. It's a shame that they put the BuckMark on something like that. The cheapest model savage you could find that still had the accu trigger would probably be the most gun for the money that you could possibly buy.
Unless you ran up on a deal on a good used rifle that you knew would shoot. People usually don't get rid of the ones that shoot though.

Well I'm not a Browning guy but did not know that about the new Abolts. I would trust what Brent says. I also agree on the savage with accutrigger but know they are sometimes hard to find for that price. I'll keep my eyes open for something that fits what your looking for though!!

If you can find an original Abolt with the fluted bolt get it
Mine are all very accurate including my wife's Abolt2

The new abolt 3 was built for someone on a budget targeting the sales of the ruger American and remington 783

My .02 cents

Good luck

Try to find you a used ruger m77, they are great guns with jeweled smooth bolts copied from the old mausers. Not sure they all have jeweled bolts but mine came like that years ago. I've used it for years. The newer vezion of the m77 is the Hawkeye which are great too just a little more pricey. I know I've seen some M77's on armslist for a great price and usually will have some type of glass on them.
