I was there until 10:00. No action. Tons of other hunters. Heard at least 15 shots. Came home to regroup. Might hit Wheeler or RSA later.

One thing I noticed, at least 75% of the hunters were back at their truck when I drove out at 10. If I saw an opening at a field I would have finished my day there. Got to get to your spot early on opening day!
There was also a road block on my way out where GW was checking licenses and guns. Make sure you unload before you drive off!

I got a 9pt today. It was the hardest deer I have ever had to get out of the woods. According to the gps we drug him 3.2 miles to the nearest road. First one that I've gotten there. Saw five total. Damn....you want one a whole lot worse than me.

I went today. No way I could drag a deer 3 miles out of that place. Heck I just walked about 3-4 miles and feel like I'm about to have a heart attack. That place is hell. There were plenty of horse riders out and about, didn't know they could ride the WMA on days of gun hunts. Walked in about 1.5 miles and saw a man on a horse in the first 20 minutes I was there. Deer started moving at 3:15, long story for later, but I had a doe with two decent bucks come in behind me and I just saw them for about 2-3 seconds. My buddy saw a total of 4 today, I saw 3. Think they said 15 deer checked in.
