You can drive the paint rock valley. Hwy 65 north from hwy 72. Then thru southern-middle tennessee.

The harder I practice, the luckier I get.

Little river canyon is fairly close to Ft. Payne.

Cathedral Caverns is a cool place, Its inbetween grant and woodville on the marshall/jackson co line.

Walls of jericho, its a all day kinda thing tho, up on the Tennessee line on hwy 79.

If your just looking for driving scenery, Hwy 65 is the way to go, drive up into paint rock valley, Beautiful place.

Guntersville state park a hour or so before dark... the deer come out and feed on side of the road near the lodge and campground.. take a loaf of bread and throw out they will come up and eat it... we saw about 50 last time up there with a couple of them being nice bucks.

This and Cathedral Caverns.

All good suggestions so far. Here are a few more and some may be duplicates already mentioned. Anywhere around Guntersville is scenic, catch Cathedral Caverns, Buck's Pocket, Mentone, Desoto Falls down to Little River Canyon. Travel a little further South and definitely find Cherokee Indian Rock Village. Google is your friend. You wont be disappointed.

If you're in the Ft. Payne area, go eat lunch at the Wildflower Cafe in Mentone.

If your in S'boro then lunch at Pikeville store, your welcome. Dang good burgers, but I'd go early,10-1030 or after lunch crowd around 1pm. It's small, but worth the drive.

the Rock Church right outside Desoto State park is really neat. Not sure how north you'll be but Cheaha State Park is gorgeous this time of year.

If you're just driving tomorrow, go back towards Huntsville, hang a right on 65 up through the valley all the way to Huntland, Tn.....get on 64 to Winchester and drive up to Sewanee. Turn around and go back to Winchester and head south on 79 (it's called something else in TN I think) and check out the walls of Jericho, drive through Skyline and as you start heading off the mountain hang a left at the deer processing sign and go get a burger at Pikeville. Head to Scottsboro at 35 and check out Unclaimed Baggage and stay on 35 west on out to Woodville then cut across to Grant and hit Cathedral Caverns then to Guntersville and home.

If you are in Scottsboro check out unclaimed baggage, or right across from the entrance to cathedral caverns is a trading post. Don't sell anything besides some memorabilia but it is an awesome store to walk through. It has lots of interesting artifacts. Speaking of Scottsboro has anybody been golfing at Broken Arrow golf course anytime?

Fixin to head up 65 and do some site seeing. We will probably head over to The Walls of Jericho and then back to Unclaimed Baggage. Thanks for all the suggestions.

Where I had lunch

Here it is, one fine burger minus a couple bites.

We took 72 west to 65 this morning. We went up 65 to Huntland Tn then went to Winchester and headed back south on 16 which turned into 79 in Alabama. I didn't stop at the Walls of Jericho because of all the hunters. Came down 79 through skyline then went to eat a burger at Pikeville. Left Pikeville and ended up at unclaimed baggage. Left there on 35 and took 79 down to 431. Went to Gasden and then back up 89 to Fort Payne where we are gonna spend the night. Gonna go to little river canyon in the morning before meeting up with Bugman and getting some pups.

They were finalist for best burger in the state. When you dropped off Skyline , headed South on 79, you were in Boxes Cove, my neighborhood.

It's a little cool but bear creek canoe run is a very pretty run. Factory falls is a pretty neat water fall. Has killed several canoeist trying to go over it. Also use to be some good fishing. We caught many smallmouth in that little creek.

This is the falls. Video don't do it justice. You can walk right out to it. Standing side by side it is so loud you have to scream at each other to hear.

Man I had a blast, maybe one day I can meet some of you folks up there. Man that little river canyon is something. If it hadn't been raining I would have spent more time there. We took 176 over to 89 and then we went to Collinsville. We got on 11 in Collinsville and took it to 431 in gasden. Took 431 up to 278 and 278 to 31 in cullman. Took 31 up to Decatur where we met Bugman to pick up the pups. After we left bugmans we took 65 to Montgomery where we got on 331 and took it to 141 and brought it on home. Y'all got some fine country up there. Strange thing though, I didn't see the first deer other than 3 dead on the side of the road. Thanks y'all, Jon
