I'd sell either one if they were given to me. However, the Browning is a much nicer rifle.

Why are we stuck on a Browning you can't work on and the poster child of cheap manufacturing.... the Tikka?

I didn't know Remington was mentioned in his first post...... They took cheap manufacturing to a whole new level with the 710's and 770's

If I could have it my way... people would see value in something such as a metal trigger guard and simply not buy the cheaply made guns with plastic parts on them... thereby forcing the companies to build a quality firearm.

That is a pipe dream. Another couple years and you'll have to call the "Custom Shop" to get something actually polished bluing with a Walnut stock.

It is truly sad. The new Remingtons are an abomination. Why buy one when you can just get a TC Venture or a Mossberg or the like with similar build quality.

That's been my argument on here withe Tikka. Why not get a TC Venture. The TC will shoot very well and costs less. We are not very far from something like a Ruger American being the flagship and a base model M77 being the top of the line in the lineup.

Sad but trhe my friend. I own a few different styles of rifles. Some synthetic and stainless, and some wood and blued. I use the synthetics when the weather is nasty, but any other time it's the classic wood and blued guns. Sadly duck guns are the same way. Most shotguns now have went the way of plastic everything. That's why I always prefer my old Mag Stalker Auto 5. When you shoulder it you know you're holding a tank of a shotgun. Hopefully some companies will keep pumping out metal trigger guards and floorplates and leave the plastic alone. Everything has its place I guess but a deer gun classic will always be wood and blued metal

I like quality but prefer stainless and a carbon Kevlar composit stock. I like either stainless or aluminum hardware though over plastic.

A Kimber Montana is about perfect. I like a nice Sako but I don't really want to drag 9 lbs of blued steel and walnut around or hunt it in the rain.

Neither have I. Im told they are difficult to change, but maybe a gunsmith can chime in.

Yes...Had a 7 mag come in. Owner said it wouldn't shoot better than 12" @ 100. When it was re-barreled, it had a varmint contour barrel installed. Whoever did it cut out the stock for the bigger barrel and it would flex and hit the barrel during recoil. I added some aluminum rod and filled it all with acra glass. That really stiffened the fore end of teh stock and it was a sub 1" tack driver after that.

Alright, I'm going to go with browning, still undecided on caliber.

Kinda sums it up for me. I just dont see the alure of the tikka. If you want a cheap plastic gun that shoots great, academy has savage axis for $267. If your getting wood stock / blue gun the brownings are nice. If your getting the composite stock browning I would look at the weatherby vanguard series 2. I'm a savage guy but the next rifle I buy will be a s2 vanguard chambered in .257 weatherby. Just cause I want one.

Of those 2, I like the X-bolt 7-08. All the Brownings I've owned have been very accurate.
My 2 complaints about the Tikka are: only come in a long action and the magazine extends below the stock, right where I like to carry the rifle.
