Get a map of thr wma from outdooralabama.com, pull up google earth. Find some spots that look promising based on aerial maps. Go put boots on the ground and find some deer sign in those spots you internet scouted. Hunt.

Missed a 140 class Monday morning. Still upset about it. You won't see a lot of deer but yes there are some monsters out here. I recommend what they said previously and scout your butt off. Find some good sign and setup close to creek bottoms on the ridge slopes. The creeks themselves aren't very active. Also try out pine thickets next to bedding areas such as 4 year old overgrowth.

I have thought about hunting over there again. Cahaba is in my back yard since I live in Alabaster. I have seen some good deer taken from the place. It would be a lot better drive than going to Oakmulgee every weekend, a lot easier on the wallet as well...lol. I use to hunt over on the Pea Ridge side, saw deer numerous times but the lawless trash over there drove me away. Please explain...this should be good.

Sorry Monticello for hijacking your post.

Sorry Monticello for hijacking your post. No worries. I have learned a lot about the WMA from the rest of you on here. Starting to see more deer.

Does anyone know if I can still bowhunt Cahaba during the youth gun hunt this coming weekend? The rules seem to indicate that it is closed for bowhunting this coming weekend if I am reading that correctly. I need to know the same thing. I bow hunted during both youth and gun last year and was even checked by the warden and all was good. I think you just need to meet the orange requirement. I see the rule your talking about but I think that needs more explanation. Last year there wasnt a sole out here for youth, at least where I hunt so I would hate to not be able to hunt when no youth are hunting either.

I emailed the game warden office and they said the refuge area is still open to bowhunt but the rest is closed.
