I've only shot Rages and not getting pass throughs on a consistent basis.. When they work they are awesome but we are losing deer on shots that aren't bad placements.. My question is a. What are you shooting? Getting consistent pass throughs? B. What are the advantages to fixed vs rages?

Are you shooting enough spine in your arrows? What's your kinetic energy(KE) for your setup?

You'd probably be better off with a fixed broadhead with your setup.

Thanks for the input.. If iwas to buy a new elite or bear bow at 60 pds pull would the kinetic energy be night and day?

If Rages were all I had shoot then I probably quit bowhunting- Get you some trophy taker shuttle T's or slick tricks and then you'll be digging them out of the dirt after it passes through the deer. As a kid I shot completely through numerous deer with a 45lb bow and 3- blade muzzies.
You're only as good as your worst shot-

you may also want to check your arrow flight, you should be getting enough energy to pass through a deer, but inconsistent arrow flight can cause you problems with penetration, and keep your blades sharp, just a couple more things to think about.
I would rather be turkey hunting

Thanks for the input.. If iwas to buy a new elite or bear bow at 60 pds pull would the kinetic energy be night and day? You can Google the KE formula. It will ask your total arrow weight(including the broadhead/field point) and your arrow speed.

I sHoot the extremes. Shot a doe through both shoulders a few days ago. Stuck out a few inches on the exit side. She was 20 yards. The only other deer was a buck That I did not get a pass through. It hit the opposite shoulder and a 30 yard shot. Everything else has been pass through. If you hut right behind the crease in the front shoulder Ill get a pass though. 68 lb 28.5 draw reezen. Not saying they are the best broadhead but the ones I feel confident in. The buck was a hyperdermic to. Went right back to extremes.
I really think I want to try a fixed blade or ram cats. I just haven't made the switch. Y, just because.

I shot extremes as well.. when they work they are a horror show but when they stick it's just frustrating on a good shot.

I shoot Thunderhead 100s. It made short work of the 7 pt that I killed in KY. The buck was shot at 30 yards. Complete pass through. He ran about 20 yards and died. A lot of good broadheads out there. Just find one hat matches your setup and stick with it.

I shoot Muzzy 100 gr 3 blades.
Poor shot by me yesterday resulted in going through left shoulder completely, broke right shoulder right at the ball socket, and poked out other side about 1/3 arrow length.

Mechanicals take more KE to pass through, and are not recommended at lower draw weights.
I've shot 14 deer with slick trick standards and magnums and got a pass through on all but one. That one shot through the front leg and into the opposite leg. The deer ran about 35 yards and crashed. Of those 14 deer, 3 of those were 200+ lb bucks, at 25, 28, and 34 yards.

I think you may have some tuning issues. The only times I have not had passthroughs with rages were spine shots.
