Didn't see anything this morning, not even a squirrel.

Slept in this morning, went to "scout" a little bit around 9:30. Walked right up on some deer feeding at 10:15, but they had done seen me before I saw them. There was several that ran off, best I could tell it was 5 or 6 does (didn't see any obvious bone anyhow). Went to look where they were and there's a cluster of white oaks with a good bit of poop under em, and a few small rubs too. I just backed out...think I'll go back in there about 2 or 3 o'clock today and see what happens. Never knew this place was here, just noticed the oak tops in the middle of some pines while I was riding down the road.

Stayed till about 11 and saw nothing but turkeys. Got hungry and ate lunch. Now sitting in a creek bottom in a funnel with hardwoods. Gonna try to sit still six hours till dark. Feeling confident about this spot.

Sat in a pop up yesterday. Still can't climb with my ankle. Was first outing. Killed a 170lb spike. The hardest part about the hunt was keeping the pop up popped up with this wind!! Never set in one with 20 mph winds. Lol

You couldn't find a deer on this place 20 years ago. My aunt's ex-husband wiped them out! It took 5 years after their divorce before we saw deer again. The key now is that there's not much pressure and we let the little bucks walk.

One of my favorite stands to walk to. Gotta go past an old primitive baptist church to get to the stand. The church is actually on our land and it's beautiful. Old civil war cemetery there too! Good luck everybody!

Up in a new spot on a different farm. There are does over here that need to be thinned out. If one comes by early, I might have to take her.

Day 1 of the November vacation:

Been in a loc-on on a hardwood ridge between a cutover and a creek bottom since about 2:30. Busted some turkeys on the way in. Saw a Pope & Young groundhog a few minutes ago, but he didn't offer a good shot. Found a fresh rub on the trail headed in. And by fresh, I mean I could literally smell it before I got to it.
