I just acquired a new lease and went to do some scouting around lunch time today. The only acces I have to the tract is to park on the shoulder of the county road and walk in. I got about 100 yards into the woods and somebody comes by my car honking the horn, rolls down the window and yells,"this road ain't parking for hunting". So at the very least it looks like I am going to have a problem with this guy blowing his horn every time he sees me hunting. My question though is am I breaking the law in any way by parking for a few hours on the side of the road and hunting.

I say heck no, as long as you're not blocking the right of way.

As long as it's not causing a Hazzard the most that will legally happen is they will put a sticker on it that it will be towed in 5 days if it's not moved. Otherwise I believe you will have other problems because it is apparent someone doesn't want you to either hunt or park there or both.

On a side not I'd consider a couple trail cams in case anything happens to your truck. Probably some local that's p'od that you leases "his" hunting sport

Had a club members truck towed just last week from doing the same thing. Someone called and complained and the county had it towed.
County told em needs to be at least 8 ft off the edge of pavement or is on ROW.

Ask the property owner if you can put in a culvert and rent a dozer and build in a turn in. It will increase his property appeal and help you gain a relationship hopefully.

I use to hunt a piece of forest land on 183. The only access was to park on the side of the rd and walk 50 yds through private land to get to it. The first two times I hunted it when I got to my truck the owner of the land and his son in law were at my truck. They weren't very happy when I told them i had talked to the forestry dept and that's what they told me to do to hunt it. They owned most of the land surrounding it and had stands all over it. They didn't like me hunting there but after nicely telling both of them to get over it they never stopped again.

In all the counties I own or have owned property all you have to do is PAY for the pipe. The county will haul the pipe AND put it in. They will haul in dirt and work it from pavement to edge of ROW.

Many will do this. Several will not. A few will provide pipe also. Just depends on the County. Most all require you to get permit from county engineer's office though.
