Read the reviews and compare the price . A tad heavy but tough, made in japan, argon purged, and over 4" Eye relief. I have 2 super slams and just bought another to upgrade and get rid of the last nikon monarch I have.

Good info. I'm tempted to buy one to stick in the closet in case I want to put together a low-cost combo

I believe i would buy a Leoupold varix-2 before i spent that kind of money on a Weaver, but thats just me, i love Leoupold scopes. I've had a varix-3 for over 15 years and you just cant beat those things. I dropped my rifle about 8' and it landed on the scope, when i shot it, it was dead on. Once i sighted it in, i've never had to touch it.

Amen. I'm looking now for a VX2 or VX3 with 50mm objective.

That is a fantastic deal on a great scope.

A weaver scope in 5 years time will lose half of its value. A leupold VX2 or VX3 will be worth about the same as what you paid for it.

And it will STILL be way overpriced then too....the Leupold that is. laugh

If you think that Super Slam wont bring but $140 in 5 years though, you're crazy. On aldeer prolly, but these tightwads wont pay $400 for a damn Sako Finnlight though so that dont mean a whole lot.

Weaver 5x20x50 Tatical Mil-dot is a fine scope! It make Leupold Mark 4 look WAY over priced. I have shot Weaver out to 1200 yards and it ALL WAYS returned to zero. thumbup

And a Harley will cost more and hold its value better than a Honda. Doesn't mean that the Honda isn't a better more reliable bike.

Hey, buy what you like, that's what I do. I don't like leupold personally. If you prefer the vx-3 that's ok but the vx-2 isn't in the same class as this scope. Have you ever looked through a super slam to compare? It's the closed minded, follow the crowd mentality that let's the rest of us get deals like these. Buy one or not.Don't matter to me either way. Just passing along what I think is a great deal on a quality scope.

I bit. Low self control I guess. I'll reply back with my assessment versus my vx3 3.5-10 x 40

Told you $270 was a deal grin. Scout one of the things I like about them is on 2X you have almost 50' field of view at 100yd but still have 10x on the top side. Mine is going on my .270 and its 2x10x42 super slam is replacing a monarch on my 45-70. By the way that monarch (2x8x32) is useless once it starts getting dark.

I don't know anything about that Weaver but they make a 30mm tube 56mm objective scope that blows the vx3 away and is as bright as the Meopta meostar. By brother in law had both and sold the Meopta just because he couldn't tell the difference and the Meopta brought more money, of course. I hunted with both and the Meopta was a little clearer at the edges but the Weaver was just as bright at dusk.

Exactly! The 5x20x50 is 30mm tube and I ALSO agree it blows Leupold away, AND is 600-700 dollars less than Mark 4 . Thats a huge savings for all you cheap skates! rofl

Hate I missed this one. I've got a .308 it'd been perfect on.

The Super Slams (and Tactical models I think) are made by LOW in Japan. Who also makes Nightforce far as I know although they are assembled in the USA. And are on par with Bushnell 6500. I don't keep up with it anymore. It is all just a charade in reality. Kinda like Leupold but those likely come from China and assembled in the US. grin . Ain't nothing truly Made In The USA anymore.

They are really good scopes. Japan has a long history of very well built optics. I have a Super Slam and a Grand Slam. And plenty of Leupolds and much better scopes to compare them to.

Don't consider the K-4 that you looked through on your Grandpa's 1903 representative of what's going on at Weaver today....
