The valve covers on the pan are completely round and resemble a pan. A knuckle will two small humps like the knuckles on you hand. I'll see if I can post a pick. Panhead Knuckle

Does my 2015 HD Road Glide FLTRXS count as old???
Post some pics up when you get them! What bikes are they? Any additional info?
I'd love to have an old one in the garage! The only thing i know is they both have suicide shifters and one has saddle bags. I have not seen them yet. I know i am losing sleep though.

The suicide shifters should be nothing but linkage. It shouldn't effect the value and of course there were the bowling ball models . lol Here's a pic of my old "Bowling ball" 75 Sporster. It was a true basket case that I built out of the milk Crates I bought it in. I kept the #1 point cover to remind of it's AMF heritage!

Uhmm, some people prefer to call them "Ironheads" not Bowling Ball models.... The original suicide shifter was mounted on the left side of the gas tank with a foot operated clutch, you had to balance on your right foot at a stop while using the right hand to hold the brake and then take your left hand off the bar to shift. It could get sketchy in certain situations on a hill. Lots of people modified them to a hand clutch/foot shift but kept the "Mousetrap" linkage. The Knucklehead was one of the most beautiful creations in the mechanical world, had hydraulic lifters, overhead valves and if I remember my '46 had all of about 35 or 40 horsepower.
