Yeah right, I'm going to stand still while a snake crawls between my feet, especially with me wearing flip flops. He needed biting so he wouldn't try that with a poisonous snake at some point in the future.

Thats a black snake they bite everything. Wont happen with a pit viper like a rattler, Ill get some video this weekend if I get a chance for yall.

I've always tried to be "decent" with snakes. Poison - in my area - dead snake. Otherwise let them alone. Had several large black snakes that settled right in. Usually the wood stacks but one lived for years under the deck next to the heat/AC unit. He would sun on the deck and when condensation was released he'd slide off and drink. He was very docile and you could walk right by him. Wife would sometimes chase him off with a broom when he'd get on the steps. Then had another one the dog went after trying to get in the basement. Must have really made it mad cause that one went after me several times. I'd generally just catch them and toss them back in the woods but this fella was intent on biting something. Rushed me several times. Finally got a shotgun and sent him to never never land.

I have never heard that the thing to do is stand still if you see a snake. Why would you even do that? Nevermind, Fred answered that question.

Pit vipers (all of our poisonous snakes in Alabama, except the Coral snake) will strike at the heat put off by your body. I saw a film years ago where they blindfolded a rattle snake and would put a balloon with hot water in it close to the snake. He hit it every time with out a miss. The thought was that the pits were heat detectors so that the snake could find food in the dark. He did not care what he bit, he would just strike at the heat signature.
No way I an letting a copper moccasin headed rattling crawl between my feet unless I am wearing snake boots. I was taught to not step over a log if you can't see whats on the other side, and to keep my hand out of dark holes. I actually see very few poisonous snakes out in the woods. The only one I kill regularly are water moccasins.

Well that video just screwed up my whole theory on snakes and how they are gentle peaceful hard workers who only want to rid the world of disease carrying rodents.

Looks like indisputable evidence that snakes are evil creatures who strictly e to cause pain and death to the human race. Time for them all to die.
