It's very hard for me to praise Michelle Obama (or her husband) for anything, but the veggie and fruit bars some schools are adopting are great. My kids hate our lunchroom food, and I end up letting them pick pre-packaged lunches out for themselves. We fix their lunches 2-3 days a week and then they take what they want the other days. What's strange is they end up picking out these fruit and veggi meals with the little ranch dressing cups for lunch. If our school had the fruit and veggi "bars", I'd let them eat at school every day. This is one thing I actually agree with them on, school lunches need to be improved. My kids love meat too, but they end up picking raw fruit and vegetables over a tasteless meat patty and nasty cooked vegetables. How do y'all handle lunches?

Our school had this before that thing ever went into office. They need to offer the kids selections as oppose to just putting things on the tray. You could feed a small army off the food that goes to waste in the school systems. Such a waste.

My kid hates the school lunches and I don't blame him. He tried to eat lunch at school when it first started but would get in truck at 3pm and was starving cause he didn't like what they had. We fix lunches 5 days per week now

The only one I have in school says that the last 2 years have been horrible. Wont even eat at school unless he takes something from home.

My boys eat at home

Mine don't always love what the school offers, but they don't cull much when it comes to food.

I always thought the school lunch was decent atleast as good as the crap you get at a drive thru.

My son eats school lunch almost every day. If he doesn't like what the main meal is, he gets fruit or a salad. Sometimes he gets a meat and some fruit, or a veggie and fruit.

We can check what he buys everyday on line.

I thank the lunches are bullshit. Thats the only meal some kids get to eat cause of sorry azz parents. They ration the food out and kids don't get enough. My wife is a teacher and has saw the pitiful kids eat their food plus off other kids plates cause they was starving. Even had a a couple trying to get food out of the garbage! Lunchrooms are made to limit how much food a kid can get and that just pisses me off.

That would piss me off too

We had one in my sons class that only time he eat was at school. My son actually would give him his snack and part of his lunch. Now we keep the teachers with snacks and water for the kids that never bring a snack.

I loved the square pizzas back in the day!! Wish I could find some of those now!!

My sister is a teacher and she says the lunches are much worse than they used to be since Obama's bride has taken over. She used to eat lunch there 1-2 times a week but says she never does anymore.

As for my kids, they aren't in grade school yet but daycare. I pack their lunch myself every morning. I try to put many fruits and vegetables in there. Its easy to put chips and snack cakes but I'm cautious not to.

It's been a while but I found them at South eastern meats..which I believe is now Souths finest meats in Tuscaloosa.

Well, I read an article where "because" of Michele Obama they had the fruit and veggie bars. Idk, but we ain't got them at South Lamar. Maybe it hasn't trickled down to here yet. The meals themselves have gotten worse for SURE!

My daughter (16) packs her own lunch everyday except for wed. My restaurant is open for lunch on wed. She and her friends order from there on the days we are open.

Many, many moons ago when I was in school the meals were GREAT. I now read the menus published in the newspaper and the meals look awful. If my kids were still in school they would be packing their own.

My mother n law Is a lunch lady(for 18 years)..And she wouldn't eat the crap there serving the children..She's seeing more and more children going hungry these days at school...My youngest loves salad but will not eat it at school no more because of the disgusting dressing..So no Osama & Pos wife still suck & shouldn't be telling anyone's children what to eat!!!
