My little girl is due for a butt whuppin she is 4 be 5 in January but I could see it coming all day today just acting like a brat so it came to a head this evening & I had to do what I hate to do & whip her she is a great kid by the way just needs to be set straight every now & then but man it tears me up to do it I always sit her down afterwards & explain why she got in trouble & that I love her...but I'm finding out what my parents meant when they say this hurts me more than it does you

You did the right thing. Just make sure they understand why after its said and done. Especially at that younger age I always sit down with mine and talk it out afterwards. I always get a "yes sir" and a hug. They are great kids because of it and rarely need spanked.

Spare the rod, spoil the child. We spanked ours when they were young when they needed it and they are turning into responsible young adults now. Main thing is be consistent.Ours never get into trouble now. I see some kids who get worse and worse with their behavior because they have never been disciplined. They will appreciate you for it later and hopefully will raise your grandchildren the same way.

I have 3 yr old twins I had to spank both of the last night. I popped the boy he puffed up that bottom lip and listened as I explained then sat down beside me quietly. I then popped the little girl. She promptly laughed at me and ran back and did what she got the spanking for again while yelling "i gonna get a whoopin" and laughing. I am gonna have a heck of a time with her!

That sounds like my lil girl. Hard headed and rebellious at 5 years old. We talk to Jesus daily with her.

be careful who you tell that to they will put you in jail for child abuse. I know when I was young whippings straightened me out a few times.

The awful feeling I have after I spank one of my girls can't be as awful as the feeling you have when its time to raise your 15 year olds kid or visiting them in jail. I'm with you though it is awful.

I have a 3 yo son and he gets spankings regularly. My wife and I try to draw a line in the sand and if he crosses it, he gets immediate punishment. Sometimes its timeout, sometimes we take away toys or having friends coming over, and a lot of times is a spanking. I always take the time to explain why he is getting punished, and unless its something really dangerous I give him 1 warning.

He is a very good child but like all children he tests his boundaries. I have had friends, family members, and his preschool teachers all look at me in amazement when I say that he gets several spankings nearly every week. They all say but he is such a good kid, I can't imagine him getting in trouble.

I think its all about being credible and consistant with disciplining, he knows if we tell him to do something its not a suggestion, we mean it.

My two girls are 7 and 4, and they fight all the time, I mean wrestle style. They get it daily seems like, never nothing bad or hard, but sometimes when they sure enough mess up they do. But they always know why they are getting the hickory or the belt before I use it. I think they gonne be alright, we done got that back talking under control..

I spanked my kids as well but, for people to think it keeps kids out of trouble later in life, your fooling yourself. I know (knew) guys that the parents tried to raise them right and spanked them. Some are dead from poor choices, some are in jail, and others are on the crack pipe. I think values/morals play a bigger part for that aspect of life.

My boy will be 5 in March and he gets them on a regular basis. He get the explanation and I get the yes sir afterwards. His problem is listening. I am pretty sure he hears me tell him no then he does it anyway.My wife will give him some also but she is not consistent with them. She will tell him no 10 times and if she thinks its not worth a whooping she raises her voice, which makes my job that much bigger. She stays at home with him so he gets that with her then when I get home from work he gets after the first no. I know I was the same way and pretty much the same parenting. It will all work out in the long run.
