I'm a freshman at calhoun and have been spending a lot of time behind in Swan mostly fishing and just riding around. How many of yall hunt it? I'm gonna try to next Saturday. Me and a buddy was looking at a spot today and somebody had a full feeder and corn everywhere! Any recommendations are greatly appreciated. You can pm if you would rather tell me there. I'm no stranger to public land! And I am aware it close in November for ducks only

Heard good things about it but never hunted it. Most say there are decent numbers and quality deer also. I think if season was open through January where you could hunt some of the rut you would have a better number of good deer come off it. I think I would probably report the corn feeder.

I like to hunt it. it actually got a little crowded last year. but its still good for deer. the only problem is that the deer like the real thick stuff out their and its hard to find a tree for a climber. I shot one last year from the ground and it ran in the thick stuff making tracking difficult

Not saying you don't know where you are exactly, but there is a lot of private land in that area.Hard to believe anyone would be that open with a feeder on a WMA.

Yea that's crazy I'd report it! I'll be there Sunday afternoon with a member from here to try a hunt. I've never hunted public land so it should be fun!

It wouldn't surprise me either way. I found a mineral site on Wheeler today.

If you found a feeder then I would bet you have stepped off on private dirt. I hunt a farm the borders it and the boundaries of the wma are not marked well. I will also say that the the private land that borders the wma is all being leased or hunted by owners or farm hands. I have been hunting and fishing on Swann for 25 yrs and the game and fish guys know what's on that place so I'm saying the corn and feeder are not on Swann. If it belongs to who I think it might I hope he don't catch you on him. He is a crazy idiot.

I believe you are wrong. According to where he told me it is located there is no way he was on private property. But we could be talking about different places. The post is about swan creek not swann, but I have only been hunting it for a few years so maybe I am wrong.

If you have a smart phone download an app called Avenza pdf maps. Then go online and find the map of swan and save it as a pdf. Email it to your phone and then open it with the app. As long as you have service it will georeference the map and show your location onto it. It is a good tool for property boundaries and what not.

Awesome AU, app is downloaded, I will try this out the next time I am there. I haven't played around with it yet but does it show an aerial view or just the map permit view?

It just shows whatever map you have loaded. You could save an aerial view as a pdf and then open it, but it only works with whatever images you have saved.
