Clark I would quarantine myself to our hospital rather than go home around my family whether it was mandated or not,

If I knew that I could help make a dif I would do everything in my power to help. If it's a lost cause and thugs get out of control I'm going home to protect my family. That's my biggest concern is my wife and kids. If not for them is be all up in it helping with anything I could.

Clark I would quarantine myself to our hospital rather than go home around my family whether it was mandated or not, I hear you man. This hits close to home because my wife is a nurse. If this gets to be an epidemic with cases everywhere, we will all drop off the grid and go into lockdown and we won't be having any visitors.

This is exactly what most people will do...see...heres the thing. In west africa you all arent going to the same gas station everyday, entering your pin or zip code on the pad...using the same pump..or paying with money..or then going to the atm or walmarts..using your pin pad..or handling money..opening doors,..shaking hands...get the picture???? In a capitalist society...especially in urban areas it DOES NOT get any worse then Ebola or Bubonic plague. They think this nurse got this by touching her face for a millisecond and it going through the MICRO SCOPIC legions or breaks we all have in our skin. THINK ABOUT THAT! LET THAT SINK IN...now...do you get how bad this dang thing is????

Dr. David Sanders was on Fox news last night talking about how this virus is primed to go air born. He has studied it I believe for the last ten years. I pray this thing does not spread anymore than it has.
But who prays for Satan? Who, in eighteen centuries, has had the common humanity to pray for the one sinner that needed it most?

My wife is the RN manager of of Emergency Department here. We were discussing the events, and she said from the start that she felt like it was going to be air born in the Texas case. The protocol they used should have been sufficient for the protection of the healthcare worker for blood or body fluids. We in the medical field have been taught for years to use "universal precaustions" to blood and body fluids, but also know that skin as long as unbroken is sufficent as a barrier. It is unlikely that this nurse received exposure by doffing her ensamble in-appropritaely unless she has open skin ares that was exposed somehow.
My major concern for our EMS and ED staff is the exposure they will receive prior to the triage process to determine that the symptoms are present.

folks..this is a SSSLLOOOWWW evolving disease....10-21 days AFTER initial exposure. There could be thousands of people infected right now whose symptoms WILL not be showing up for 2-3 WEEKS!
That there is already 2 healthcare professionals who dealt with Patient Zero who have caught it shows three things:
1.)It is much more contagious then the govt is stating.
2.) That anyone treating patients is HIGHLY at risk
3.) that the virus is now spreading and is in a major metropolitin area, with a major air hub to the rest of the country. To what extent remains to be seen.
None of those things are a GOOD thing.
We need to isolate all exposure risks and stop all entry from anyone hold West African passports or VISAs..IMMEDIATELY!
Why people are apathetic to this is very strange for me. Personally..I think it is some very scary stuff.

The procedures for this disease was not enough. The guy had "explosive diarrhea". You can't know where every droplet goes. Those nurses had on the equivalent of a glorified gown made of material a tad thicker than Kleenex. I wear those gowns every day. I would not care for an Ebola patient with nothing less than an impervious full body suit. The nurses scrubs from the knees down were exposed, their necks were exposed and their shoes had on paper covers. That's not enough. Then they went on to care for other patients. This is FAR from over. Pandemic in the making. Get ready.

Hell no, he's going to go to the closest small hospital/clinic around and infect everyone there....

Just typed a very long post, and removed. What I'm gonna say is there are some hard choices that are gonna have to be made. And soon.

I'm not in healthcare but my job requires me to visit, inspect facilities that process medical waste. I don't have to return until March, but I'm getting really skittish about going back. Not sure how I'm going to handle this one.

I've cleaned wild hogs with no gloves, drank river water, eaten mercury-ridden fish, shook hands with men from Bangladesh, China, Ethiopia, and Europe within the last 3 months. And I shook your hand twice....I'm gone!
