Hunting Bankhead National Forest. Just got settled in. Sitting on a ridge with a few white oaks and red oaks.

I got up at 3:00 so I could milk and still make it in before daylight. Been settled in for about 20 minutes. I don't care what comes by, if it's legal it's getting a arra flung at it. laugh

Hunting the edge of late soybeans. Bumped one coming in. Had 2 walk right under stand before daylight. Saw 6 more in the field. A buck came by grunting before daylight.

Way to go boom!!!!!

Just had 2 does and 3 fawns slip in on me. One of the old does knew something wasn't right just looking all around and edgy. She finally decided it was bad walked back from where she came from. I couldn't move to get my bow without getting busted-sun is shining on me at the moment, probably what got set her radar off. I swear they can appear out of nowhere. Man I love being in the woods!!!!!!!!!!! grin

Congrats.

The only thing I saw this morning was a little button head. Fun to watch and another good day in the woods!

Seen 4 so far. First deer wasn't till 0915. Had another one come in got my wind and blew out. Had a momma and a spotted fawn feed 20 yards from me for 20 mins. Momma saw something out in front of me n blew and ran off.

Congrats on the buck click-boom!

I ran 2 does out of a food plot on my way out. Stopped to check another field and they are hitting them pretty hard. Thinking I may hang a stand on the edge of one this evening and try my luck. We just don't have many acorns to hunt this year

Up a cedar tree overlooking a standing bean field in south Madison County that borders a flooded creek bottom on 2 sides and a pine thicket on another. Food plots are looking like crap but maybe this rain will help.

Haven't killed a deer with my bow in 2 years. Maybe that'll change this evening. Wish everyone a good and safe hunt.

First sit in my favorite tree on a hardwood ridge pinch point above a bluff line. This tree has always been productive this time of year. Been here since 1 and it's been raining acorns.

I am in about the same set up. I have a hard wood bottom to my right 5 year old cut over in from pine thicket to my left. This is my favorite spot. Had 855 pics since the 11th on my cam. I should Atleast be able to look at a few... Maybe that big buck from last year will come out today.

Back in the tree, I came across a timber rattler on the way in, will post pics later when I have better bandwidth. Scared the crap outta me he was stretched out on the trail and saw or heard me. Coiled up so fast I nearly crapped my pants. Dang nearly tripped and fell on top of him. Good thing my heart is in good shape ... I'm Rattled...

I've got an 8 year old cutover in front of me and a hardwood bottom to my left. Got a white oak that's dropping 20 yards from here. Maybe this spot will produce today.

Trying a food plot this afternoon since we don't have many acorns. Lots of tracks in our fields. Surrounded by thinned pines and a creek bottom. Fingers crossed

First field I've hunted so far. It's a big corn field cut in mid-late September. Hoping for a nice buck, coyote or coon, I don't like taking does on evening hunts. This is the same area I saw "killer" kill that young buck last rifle season. Hope he's still in here. They just planted winter wheat a week ago

This evening I Had two button heads under me. Thought one was a doe for a while but after seeing the first one I hesitated and was glad I did. The second time they passed me I could see the knots.

This morning I had a 10 minute staring contest with a doe on a small green field that I was walking through at first light on the way to the woods. She wouldn't let me bring my bow up. She just stared for 10 minutes, or so it seemed.

Ended up seeing 5 deer this evening. A spotted fawn @4:30, then about 5:30 had 2 bucks walk out of the pine thicket. 1 was a screwed up 3 point then about 40 foot behind him was a stud of an 8 point. Closest they got was about 60 yards working their way through the bean field. Got under an oak tree and stayed there 60 yrds out until dark. Had 2 does come out into the field right before dark.

Had my mind set on shooting a doe, but Mr 8 pointer has made a change in those plans. Havent killed a buck with my bow in years. Need to get an arrow in this deer before rifle season opens and the rest of the clan starts hunting and finds out about him.

Off to bed. Sunrise is coming soon.
