Took a friend's son last year and he got it. He wore it proud!

Did it to my wife last year, but definitely not as much as when I got it when I was 9 haha.

Edit: I have a new brother-in-law that started hunting some with us last year. Now, IF he ever kills one, he better put on a snorkel rofl

I had it done.....and will do it to my son one day. I remember back when I grew up dog hunting with my dad and his buddies, if you missed a deer, you also got your shirttail cut off.

I bloodied both my daughters faces on their first deer. It's still done at our hunting club every year.

I bet it's still done a lot more than you think it is.

I did it to my nephew when he was 9 and I took him to kill his first deer. He cried like a baby and called my sister to come pick him up from my hunting club. I have never taken him hunting again. I guess he has fun playing his Nintendo.

If the person can appreciate it and feel part of the club, the. Go for it, but if you run them off from hunting, it's stupid.

His brother loved it, when he got done the next day. Instead of a crybaby fest he got to eat fresh grilled back straps and got pats on the back. The other nephew has always been a mommas boy.

If you hunt our club and kill your first deer. You will get your face bloody! If you are female you still get it but just not as bad.

The way it was, the way it is, and the way its going to be!
It's tradition!!

I don't. Kid I went to school with was bloodied, had a small cut on his neck and ended up with gangrene. Did the blood have anything to do with it? I don't know, but I wasn't going to take a chance. Had a friend contract hepatitis from cleaning a deer. Or at least that's what the doctors told him. Again, small cut on one of his hands and he accidently cut the bladder on the deer.

I did! I wore those red cheeks with pride right on into the gas station to get a biscuit. Everyone that saw me gave me an "atta boy."

I was king.

And my daughters will wear it too when the time comes.
